My experience at this Model Bakery during opening week is my first and only 1 star review on Google. Unfortunately this bakery is a pass for me and overhyped, they have operational issues to figure out and are not ready to operate.
I came in on a Saturday around noon the week after opening to a line which was fine. By the time I got to the front, all I wanted to try and order was a simple toasted English muffin and a scone. The employee said they’re all out of muffins. I look down and what do I see in the counter, bags upon bags of 6 pack muffins. I ask her what those are and she explains that they only sell 6 packs now. I asked why they can’t open them in the back and just sell individually like they advertise to which she shrugged. I then asked if they had the breakfast sandwich (which comes on a toasted muffin) and she said yes they have those. So clearly they had single muffins and this employee was confused.
I ended up ordering just a scone which I thought they’d hand to me right there. Instead I wait to hear my name called, after 10 minutes go by, my simple scone still hasn’t come out so I ask what’s taking so long. They haven’t even checked the order and as a result of me asking the lady finally grabs it and hands it to me in a bag.
During that wait time I saw other clients getting annoyed at the service, one lady next to me said she waited 15+ minutes for a sandwich and when it finally arrived the staff didn’t provided utensils. When they asked for some the staff only came back with one pair.
Disappointed to say the least in how this bakery...
Read moreFirst of all, this place is exceptional and it's very clear that it's been built with heart and soul and lots of love. Second, ambiance - are you kidding!? It's absolutely gorgeous inside and out. I am obsessed with the color themes and the decor choices all together. Third, food?! Oh holy moly, I will be back for that chipotle breakfast sandwich, for the fruit tart, the honey bun, and the chocolate chip cookie- but most of all I'll be back for that tomato soup! I'm already craving it! Please don't ever take it off the menu, I think it was the best tomato soup I've ever had. No joke on sweets AND savories Model knocked it out of the park. What knocked it all the way out into the galaxy for me? SERVICE. Our cashier was so wonderful and so so patient and helpful when it was hard for us to decide which way to go, and then Mackenzie in particular truly went the extra extra extra mile. I had such a beautiful conversation and connection with her that we hugged when I left. My business has community building events at restaurants in and around San Ramon, and I sincerely have my fingers crossed that Model Bakery will consider providing opportunities to host events because we would love to host there one day. Thanks for a wonderful experience to our cashier and especially to Mackenzie, and to all who contribute to this wonderful environment - I will be back very soon because I didn’t even try the English muffins or the cinnamon...
Read moreThis place has been on my list to come see as soon as the crowds have died down and I finally made time to come down early Saturday morning. Despite the lack of crowds the staff seemed off putting, not welcoming and not informative.
I told him it was my first time here and wanted to know what I should get, I was just being friendly and I know I don't look the typical person who would be dining in downtown Walnut Creek that still doesn't mean I should be treated any differently.
I wasn't given any I contact, I was kind of dismissed and waved away and rushed to leave. It's unfortunate quite a bit of bread. And now that I'm home and trying the bread and toasting it and putting it on high quality butter and stuff it is the most overrated thing on the planet. Now I'm stuck with a six pack. They did have a peanut butter cookie which I will give them props for because nobody ever makes peanut butter chocolate chip cookies anymore but it was dry hard and stale.
Walnut Creek has awful parking and truly it's not...
