Went today for the St. Patrick's day "event". Was very disappointed to find out that there wasn't a free breakfast buffet as advertised, only free pancakes with a $5 purchase (which, might I add is technically a cover charge, but it also was not stated that that would be the case anywhere on the website.) "Live Entertainment" seemed to just be the TVs and "Live Music" was just music over the radio. Didn't end up staying long enough to see about the bagpipers or swag giveaway, but I suspect that the swag would've just been Guinness lanyards or something like that. Unsure about the bagpipers and what that would entail because I will not be returning today, or likely again. I had been here previously, liked it, and was excited to celebrate a holiday here but this has soured my view of this place. I honestly should have known that a lot of what they advertised wouldn't have been possible due to how small the place is, but I was hopeful.
The issue I have is that I got up and in there at around 7AM only to find out that everything they advertised was false. I had initially made plans to return in the evening for drinks but wanted to enjoy the morning of St. Patrick's day as well. That will no longer be happening and my day has been soured.
Thank you for your time.
Edit: The only upside here is that the servers are so sweet. Shout out to them, shame on the owner.
Edit 2: Your advert stated that there was to be a FREE breakfast buffet as well as no cover charge. Pancakes with the purchase of a drink is neither a buffet nor not a cover charge. The only drinks we saw were alcoholic and, despite it being St. Patrick's Day, I was not comfortable with drinking alcohol that early in the morning. Your advert also stated that the live entertainment would be all day. I've been to other events in which the advertised entertainment has started as doors opened. Sorry to have had that expectation as establishments vary. There was no schedule other than the 7am-10am buffet that was not present. We in no way expected to get the pancakes with the water because we were told of the situation and purchasing requirements. We left because we felt misled from the start and became skeptical about the rest. All I'm asking for is more clarity on future...
Read moreThis time I decided to get a carry out. I read somebody’s review that the tater tots were delicious and also that they got a terrific strawberry lemonade.
So I ordered loaded tater tot’s. And I asked for the season ground beef from the nachos to be added to the tater tots also. The tater tot’s were very good. I probably should not have added the season ground beef because there was a lot of it, and too much for the amount of tater tot’s. But that’s not a negative. When I’ve had the nachos I thought they were pretty spicy and I couldn’t figure out where the spice was coming from. Today I figure it out it’s from the liquid cheese, which was also on the tater tots. It’s a little too much spice for me, but it was still good if you like that.
The strawberry lemonade, though I feel was too overly sweet. So much so that I had to get another whole glass of ice for half of the drink in there and then fill it up with water. And it was still super sweet. So if you’re someone that likes extra sugar in your lemonade or Kool-Aid, it’ll work for you. I really could only taste sugar and sweet. I didn’t taste lemonade, or strawberry. So I won’t be ordering that again. If I had some lemons at home, I wanna squeeze some lemons in it or if I had strawberries, I would’ve put some strawberries in it and maybe I could’ve had a taste of strawberry lemonade.
The only issue I had was with the service when I picked up. I feel like they weren’t friendly. I didn’t get any greeting or smiles. I went at a time that it wasn’t particularly busy. They were about half-full. There was three people near the carryout counter standing there . When I gave my name and order. One lady help me, and the other two walked away, but that lady had no conversation with me straight face, and no smile just walked away as I was signing the receipt. She didn’t engage with me at all basically.
I still left a tip for the carry out but I felt they could’ve done a little better with...
Read moreMalone’s Tavern is a great spot to grab a few beers and watch a game, or simply hang out with friends in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The service stood out the most to me — the waitresses were all kind and attentive, and the teamwork among the staff really made the experience feel homey. For example, if a different waitress noticed our water glasses were empty, she’d top them off without hesitation, even if we weren’t her table. That kind of genuine care for customers goes a long way.
The food was pretty good overall, though I’d recommend sticking to their strengths — the hearty pub-style dishes. I really enjoyed my Shepherd’s Pie and French Onion Crock; both were flavorful, comforting, and very filling. The seasoning in the Shepherd’s Pie was excellent — definitely a must-try.
My brother ordered a burger, which was decent but nothing special, and my mother had the Caesar salad, which I wouldn’t recommend — the chicken lacked flavor and there was just too much cheese. We also tried the Wing Dings, but they weren’t my favorite (as I told my family, stick to the Irish pub-style appetizers!).
Overall, if you come for the pub classics, grab a couple of beers, and enjoy the friendly atmosphere, you’ll have a great experience at...
