Unique taste and flavors, not typical ice cream. The Dublin location disappointed with service. We observed that is was a busy time. The Caucasian people in front of the line (7) were sampling for an extended period of time and servers were super friendly and patient, smiling and asking how yhey could help. some women in hijabs were directly after them and when it was their turn the service teams whole demeanor changed. They got silent waiting on the ladies and gentleman to make their selections, no smiles, no friendly conversation. It was a clear difference. Then came us, (African-American) we were never greeted and the first words spoken were "Can you move down please" as we moved down the people after us (caucasian) were assisted before we had been assisted. I was sampling and my daughter 19 and dark complexion was not even acknowledged. I had to point out that she needed assisted. The people behind us, quickly passed us up and we had not been finished being served. Definitely will not return and spoke with other POC who had our same experience at this Dublin Bridge Street location. I really wish this was not the case but it was too obvious to ignore. Hopefully, management makes some much needed changes and discusses diversity and inclusion so that everyone entering through those doors has the...
Read moreThe smell of fresh baked waffles greets you as you open the door, the warm welcome by the staff makes you feel appreciated as you step up to the counter.
I really wanted to get the full flight but remembered I was all by myself a d that would be alot. So I decided ti get the trio which is 3 flavors. I had mine in a waffle bowl because I could not resist the smell .
I had the lavender, peanut butter a dairy free chocolate cake thing.
The lavender was like standing in a field of flowers, the taste is so smooth and slowly melts I. Your mouth leaving a soft tingle of flavor and the aroma stays with you.
The dairy free chocolate cake thing, honestly don't remember the name but I would have never known it was dairy free. The pieces of chorale cake and chocolate swirl were amazing, this is no cheap chocolate, in my opinion it has a better taste then giradelli (I know that's not spelt right).
Finally the peanut butter and I am a peanut butter lover, this has lead to my instant regret of not coming in sooner rather then my last day. I will look I to ordering online and having it shipped to me!!
Oh the waffle.bowl, I want more, I would do the waffle bowl with whipped cream and strawberries all day these are so sweet and crispy, ...
Read moreAn expensive and pretentious Ice Cream shop, the way they treat ice cream is not particularly approachable.
The constant experimentation does not help as it frequently leaves local favorite flavors off the menu in lieu of a myriad of brand new flavors. This means if you like a seasonal flavor, like Biscuits and Peach Jam or Mint Chip, I would discourage getting overly attached as they may never come back (or if they do, it will be a slightly tweaked version). This issue doesn't have to be restricted to seasonal flavors either, as staple flavors like 'Buckeye,' Espresso, and even Chocolate have undergone sometimes significant changes over the years.
I realize after the paragraph above you might be confused by the three star review. Even after all I said above, the ice cream here is still very good. Every time I go in, I can always find a flavor or two (or 3 or 4) I really like.
It is just that, despite how good the ice cream is here, I can't shake the fact that it is also much more expensive than other local options, despite not really having demonstrably better quality, and the very nature of Jeni's model makes it impossible to get attached. I have no clue visit to visit if that flavor I liked last time will be there...
