Extremely Disappointed with Service and Cleanliness Standards I had a very unfortunate experience at the For Five Coffee Roasters location in Washington, DC. My party placed a large order, and among the items, I had requested a latte. To my shock and discomfort, I discovered a hair in my cup after I had already taken a few sips. This was deeply unsettling. Additionally, one of the teas we ordered was served cold and clearly not prepared properly. When we brought this to the attention of the barista, we were met with a troubling lack of professionalism. She was visibly playing with her hair behind the counter—something that should never happen in any food or beverage service setting—and unfortunately, this is likely how the hair ended up in my drink. The manager on duty was unhelpful and dismissive. Rather than offering a sincere apology or showing concern, he simply said he could redo the tea but could not guarantee it would be made correctly. This response reflected a clear lack of accountability and care for customers. To make matters worse, I followed up by contacting the company through email to give them a chance to address the situation privately and professionally. Unfortunately, I never received a response, which only reinforced my impression that customer care is not a priority for them. When it comes to food and beverage service, hygiene and professionalism are non-negotiable. Sadly, this experience left me feeling disrespected and unheard. I will not be returning, and I hope this review serves as a prompt for the company to reevaluate its staff training and customer...

I ordered the Eggs Benedict, and it was nothing short of amazing. The eggs were perfectly poached, the hollandaise sauce was rich and flavorful, and the presentation was top-notch. It's easily one of the best Eggs Benedict dishes I've had in a long time.
My wife opted for a breakfast sandwich and couldn't stop raving about it. The ingredients were fresh, and the combination of flavors was just right. It is evident that much thought and care go into each dish at For Five Coffee DC.
Our daughter had a gigantic chocolate chip muffin, which was a delightful treat. It was moist, loaded with chocolate chips, and just the right amount of sweetness. She enjoyed every bite and even saved some for later; it was that big!
And let's not overlook the star of the show-the coffee. The coffee at For Five Coffee DC is a league of its own. It boasts a rich, velvety flavor, completely devoid of any harshness. Whether you're a fan of the classics or crave something more daring, their extensive selection is a haven for all coffee enthusiasts.

Read moreBoth times I have visited this place I have had a great experience. The service is top-notch. Everyone is attentive and communicates well. It appears to be a well-managed operation.
I got a bag of light-roast whole-bean coffee a few years ago, and it was pretty good. My only critique is that it didn't have a roasted date, and the resulting brews lacked the body of freshly roasted coffee. It was still great coffee, but I prefer beans that were roasted 1-2 months ago.
More recently, I ordered a light-roast pour-over, which was very nice, especially for the price. It is hard to find cafes in DC that make a pour-over consistently. Even if you see it on the menu, most places randomly don't feel like making it, or they subsitute drip coffee and hope customers don't notice. Thankfully, that wasn't the case here. The resulting cup was well balanced. Not bitter or sour. Full bodied without being over-extracted.
I will be back for sure. Hopefully, they will get some more fresh shipments and more diversity of lighter-roasted beans. I would love to see some naturally-processed african...
