Toastique — Restaurant in Washington

Not worth your time or money (and it requires a lot of both!) and not worth the risk of salmonella from barely cooked food!!!

The menu looked promising—but coming into the store, you immediately feel like an inconvenience. Every staff member was giving each other side eyes and whispering as they walked past. I apologized for asking questions, and was given a glib “you’re fine” in response to everything.

You finish spending $48 on avocado toast and coffee for two, and realize you forgot eggs. So, they respond “well, you can get them if you buy them.” Didn’t feel great being shamed in front of the entire restaurant but it fit with the general mood…then they send you to the back of the line to wait while your toast—served on a cutting board, without utensils or anything to justify them asking for a tip TWICE… overall terrible customer service. Par for the course, you get a BARELY cooked egg that then drips all over your cutting board (not fried or poached…barely cooked and in a plastic cup with water???)

The whole experience was so unpleasant that we left after two bites.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Toastique! This has become my go-to spot every single morning, and it always starts my day on the right note. Their smoothies are not only delicious but also healthy, fresh, and made with so much care it’s exactly the fuel I need to keep going.

What truly makes this place special, though, are the incredible employees. Kelsey and Tamsen are simply the best! They always greet me with a warm smile and positive energy, and they make every visit feel personal. Their kindness, consistency, and attention to detail turn what could just be a “quick stop” into the highlight of my day.

Thank you, Toastique, for being such a gem in the community. And thank you, Kelsey and Tamsen, for making mornings brighter and healthier you both are...

Update - visited again today (Friday, April 4) when passing through the neighborhood - same exact experience.

Response to owner - Nope. As the saying goes, never get another chance to make a first impression. Your staff chose to do whatever they were doing rather than service the customers in front of them. Even when I shared that with them, they saw nothing wrong with ignoring the customers in the store.

Original review - Walked in on a Sunday with one other customer in the location. Wife and I each ordered a smoothie off the menu with no customization. 15 minutes later we got our drinks. Small staff seemed busy but no food was going out. Looking right at us and not getting our drinks. Smoothie was good but no way I would wait that long again and...
