Luby's — Restaurant in Webster

I called before I came to Lubys because I live in Texas City and I wanted catfish during lent we don’t eat meat on Friday. The man that answered said yes so I try to order it on line because he says it takes 10 minutes to make but the menu said no catfish so I took a chance going I go on the side where you order and I ask questions to the young man but he couldn’t answer he kept looking around and said that’s not my dept I ask what do you do here he said takes orders I should have walk out but I drove a long way. I went sat in the car and waited. I got my order and left I should have looked inside the bag. I get home and I never seen catfish like that everything was dry and looked like they just tossed it in. I lived in Conroe for 23 yrs and always went to Lubys and they all knew me and gave me senior citizen discount never had problems but unfortunately I ended up here in Texas City where the restaurants are not too good. I treat myself to a meal once a month because I’m on a fixed income and I don’t like to waste food so I ate it anyway regardless of how it taste. I didn’t get to order a drink or dessert. The girl at the salad station presented herself as if there were 30 other places she'd rather be. Cold and short, dangerously bordering on rude. With the exception of that negatively awkward encounter, the Entire rest of the staff on the line (only one I saw wearing a name tag was a gentleman named Kevin, VERY nice guy) and at the register were superb. Friendly, smiling and happy to assist. I strayed away from my normal go-to (Fried Fish) and tried the Mushroom Turkey and was pleased with my decision.

Moving on to the dining room.. I'll only suggest 2 things..

Wear a jacket and gloves because it's freezing in there. Seek out a wonderful lady by the name of Queen.

Ms. Queen will ABSOLUTELY be the main reason for my return. You could not ask for a friendlier person and wouldn't get one even if you tried. She was sublime.

I really wish I could rate this Luby's higher but the first employee on the line was a completely negative experience and the temperature of the dining room was uncomfortable.

I'd give Mr. Kevin and Ms. Queen a 6 star rating though... for whatever...

Me and my wife have never been to a Lubys restaurant before. This is our first experience. The service was great. The food was really good. The atmosphere was really good. I’m definitely coming back. I got the roast beef, but I guess it was a bad day for roast beef because it was like chewing rubber bands, it was very rubbery and I couldn’t really get my moneys worth for that dish. Maria, my server took charge and went and talked to the assistant manager and they told us that there was nothing they could do. Then I went up and talked to the head manager Charles and told him what happened and gave him the opportunity to either do something or not to do something. And I told him about the beef being not really edible. He took charge and gave us a free dish and even a free side well it wasn’t really free because we already paid for the beef brisket which didn’t turn out good but he did take charge and made it right so we’re definitely coming back. That’s what food service is all about making sure everyone’s happy and the food is what Lubys is expecting to be served. Thank you kindly everyone I appreciate you me and my wife...
