If you've been looking for a $13.54 laxative, your search is over! I've been here before and I was unimpressed. But I reasoned, "Well, maybe the food is better when it is fresh." I was wrong. Today I went there right when they opened. The service: The server's and hostess' English is so bad that you can't understand what they're saying when they ARE speaking English, but don't worry, most of the time they're not speaking English. The hostess was extremely rude. My server seemed very nice. She was eating at the table right next to me in full view of all the other customers, so it was easy for her to clear my plates and refill my water. How thoughtful of her! She got her food from the kitchen in back. Strangely enough, her food didn't resemble anything that was on the buffet. Smart girl. She's probably eaten there before and opted to bring her own food to work rather than eat the buffet food. The food: I can make better frozen Chinese food with my microwave. The tater tots and French fries weren't bad, but I didn't go to a Chinese food buffet for fried potatoes. The red mystery meat on a stick wasn't bad either, just not real sure what species it was. Oh, I almost forgot.....the ice water was good. That's about it. Everything else was trash. Most of it was either undercooked or overcooked, drowning in butter, or otherwise overseasoned in some comical manner. I would give you a better description of the other dishes I sampled today, but to be completely honest, I'm ashamed of myself for even trying some of them, and reliving that experience will certainly induce uncontrollable vomiting. The decor: I'm sure it really looked nice in 1993 when it was new. Imagine a Seinfeld episode where the scene was set in a cheap Chinese buffet. If that was the goal of the decor, they friggin nailed it! I'm guessing that at some point back in 1993, some idiot customer with a terrible sense of style said to the manager, "The place looks great. Don't change a thing." And they never did. It hasn't aged well though. One new addition to the decor are sheets of paper crudely taped around the room, with a message saying that any food left on your plate will be weighed and you will be charged $5 or $6 per pound of food you take off the buffet and don't eat. They're clearly very savvy restaurateurs, for sure! I've never had a restaurant guilt me into cleaning my plate before, threatening me with extra charges for not wanting to eat a meal I'm already paying for! They may revolutionize the industry if this catches on!!! LOL The price: $12 + tax is obviously too much to pay for this experience. I'm NEVER going there again. $5 would be too much! Do yourself a favor and take that $5 across the parking lot and get yourself a crappy pizza from Little Caesars. It is a far better alternative. I would give this place less than 1 star if i could. But since I can't, I give the 1 star to that tasty ice water! LOL. The whole rest of this place gets a combined 0 stars.
By the way, I feel bad for all of these people who gave this place a high rating and have the audacity to call that slop "good food"! What the hell do you people normally eat??? Dirt? Tree bark?? Rotten roadkill??? The food was most foul. Shame on you people for bringing others into your web of lies. If this place served "good food" and the food they served was the benchmark for taste and quality, then this country wouldn't have an...
Read moreMy husband and I love this place! Best Chinese buffet around! The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because our last visit (last night) was disappointing. First the good: The mushrooms in clam sauce was delicious! Now the bad: The food was mislabeled on the buffet. Badly! Like it said chicken but was obviously shrimp. They did not have the honey chicken which I love (even though the sign on the buffet said honey chicken it was really fried bananas!) There were 2 types of shrimp, but no cocktail sauce. The food was in a weird order on the bars. For example the Chinese donuts were on the American food bar (even though 2 of the 5 bars are dessert bars.) Okay, maybe no room you say, but we were all surprised to find pork on the bar with cookies and other dessert stuffs! My hot tea cup was badly stained and imagine my surprise when it wiped off with a napkin! (My napkin was black after wiping the inside of the cup down. Not stained, just dirty!) And my husband left food on his plate! In our 10 years together I have never seen him do this before! (He said he struck out on that trip up to the buffet and the food wasn't to his liking. For the record he will eat almost anything and has a healthy appetite.) I am hoping we caught them on an off night. I don't know. It was around 5pm on a Wednesday. There were only 3 other groups of people eating while we were there and they couldn't have seated us any closer together! It's been a long time since we had last made it out to eat there and I hope this isn't what this place has become. It is odd that there were so few people there at what used to be a busy...
Read moreOverall the experience was forgiving. With a preface, we were kind of hungry after not eating for half the day and had little other options as the China Buffet was the only restaurant within walking distance of the motel we were staying in.
Ordered chicken friend rice and chicken with vegetables. First off, the rice was not fried, just steam cooked. Not a big deal, but if you have standards, you might be offset by this encounter. That was the only circumstance that was noticable with the chicken fried rice. The chicken with vegetables like the other meal was lacking the fried delight. There were many onions in the meal, but as can be expected when ordering such a dish. The dish came with a plentiful quantity of vegetables that were very tasty.
The hours the restaurant offered make it flexible as we ordered near closing hour past 9pm. I have not been to the restaurant before so I do not know how busy it is at other times and days of the week, but the wait time was zero. Ordered over the phone and picked up 15 minutes later by foot.
The bill came to under $20 for two meals and surprised me as the Chinese restaurant in my hometown goes for +$25 for two people.
I did not experience the "bullying" attitude by the servers into getting tips, but can understand the nature when they are working such a job as it is their means of income on top of hourly pay.
The food was good. Will probably order in the future if they are able to learn how to make authentic...
