Very disappointing meal.
Sunday afternoons are usually busy times to eat out, but the restaurant wasn’t crowded — that should have been our first red flag. We had a party of 8. Our waitress was adequate, but when one member of our group asked if the bread contained milk (due to a milk allergy), she responded by offering gluten-free bread — as if gluten and milk were the same thing.
The food took far too long to come out, and it took just as long to get our bill at the end. Despite confirming at the beginning that we would need two separate checks, it took the waitress three tries to get the bill right.
Some of the food was decent — the salad, chicken wrap, and fried pickles were fine. However, the burgers were way too salty, the cheese had an odd taste, and the fries were below average — they all tasted like they came straight from a freezer. The restaurant also no longer offers their house-made chips or several other items we had enjoyed on past visits.
At the end of the meal, we mentioned to the waitress that the burgers were not good. She brought someone over — presumably the manager, though he never introduced himself — and he had absolutely no sense of customer service. When we explained that three different people didn’t enjoy their burgers, he asked to see what was left of them — as if we were lying just to get a discount. I told him I wasn’t asking for money off; I just wanted them to be aware that the food was far too salty. He didn’t offer a discount, didn’t apologize, and just walked away.
The final straw that made me write this review was the automatic 18% gratuity added to our bill because we had a party of 8. While I understand some restaurants do this, I also believe they should ensure the service is worth an 18% tip. I would have tipped regardless, but it wouldn’t have been that much — the service simply didn’t justify it. Yes, we had 8 people, but 4 of them were well-behaved children (not loud or disruptive in any way).
All of this to say — the experience was very disappointing. I doubt I’ll be going back, and honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if they go out...
Read moreAfter our early short Christmas shopping spree, substitute mom, EM and I decided it was time to renew our strength and grab a bite to eat. But, what? I remembered someone mentioning Fat Patty's in the Valley. EM had never been, so we decided to check it out. We are so glad we did! Apparently, someone usually greets you and escorts you to a table, but today was a little different. The staff was very short handed. However, those that came to work was doing a very good job of greeting new customers and getting them seated as quickly as possible. Ms. Kayla was our server for the day and she did an awesome job!😁 Since both EM and had never been there, we had time to study the menu. Both of us wanted coffee - as a pick me up - however Ms. Kayla quickly stated she would have to brew us a fresh pot. We, of course, loved it and told her that it gave us time and we don't mind at all to wait. As we were looking at the menu, EM told me she had never had fried pickles. Now I knew what to order as an appetizer! 😊 Instead of the Chipotle ranch that goes with it, we were able to substitute it with plain ranch! EM loved 😍 it! Then she sprinkled just a tiny bit of sugar on it. Now it tasted like fried tomatoes!!! It was good all the way round! EM then ordered the Li'l Patty and fries. It was still - for her - more than enough. I decided to go with the Cowboy Patty and fries! Yum, yum, 😋! The Cowboy Patty has shaved sirloin and mushrooms with Provolone cheese. OMG! Was that good!!! And the burger was soo juicy!!! And the fries were some of the best we've had in a while! Loved ❤️ it!!! We couldn't eat it all! And because we had a little bit more of a wait time than usual, Ms. Kayla, complimented us our coffees - with no comments from our side! Now that is customer service!!! The facilities were clean and the restaurant as well. Fat Patty's also has 2 party rooms, as well as a bar and flat screen TVs distributed all around. I loved the fact that they had their windows decorated with awesome autumn motives!!! We both enjoyed ourselves so much and intend on coming back again! Very highly...
Read moreI used GrubHub to place an order for bretzels, 2 servings of southwest egg rolls, and a serving of traditional wings. Total charge — even with Amazon Prime discount — was $67.00. Even though the restaurant is only four miles from my house, it took over an hour for the food to arrive.
I opened the order and immediately noticed the egg rolls were missing. This is a recurring problem with GrubHub, but that’s a separate issue. I immediately called the restaurant and was told there was nothing they could do, and that I would have to contact GrubHub. Oh joy I thought, I’m forced to use a typically poorly designed and ill-behaved chatbot to get a resolution. However I was pleasantly surprised to chat with an actual human being who readily removed the missing egg roll charge from my credit card.
But back to the food itself. I had asked for my wings to be cooked crispy, but they were soft and barely cooked. But the real kicker was the state of my celery, a picture of which I’ve attached to this post. When I saw the celery i immediately felt that twinge of wanting to vomit you get when you realize you’ve unexpectedly eaten something utterly disgusting, like finding a bug or pubic hair in your meal. And finally, the beer cheese included with bretzels was hard as a rock.
I will never, ever, order from Fat Patty’s again. They obviously don’t care one whit about their customers and their cooks must be filthy, disgusting troglodytes to send out an order such as the one I received.
But this review is also as much a complaint about GrubHub as it is about Fat Patty’s. Why did the driver and restaurant not make sure the order was complete? Why such a long wait when the restaurant is literally 10 minutes from my home? And why was I not able to contact the driver?
As thought about it later that evening I contacted GrubHub again and asked for a full refund of the entire meal as well as the driver tip. If they don’t honor the request I’ll take it up with...
