Honestly, I hate to leave such a negative review since this is a mom and pop pizza joint. I live in Westlake and this is the only pizza I have found nearby that isn’t at the hectic Crocker park.
I will start with saying that the pizza itself is pretty good. I’d give it an 8.7/10. HOWEVER, the service is beyond terrible. We are hastily approaching 2024…. How is there not an option to order online? I am totally okay with placing an order via phone, but be prepared to be on a 20-30 minute wait before you’re able to talk to someone on a Friday or Saturday. By the time you get ahold of them, place the order, have it made and delivered to you, you are looking at 2 hours go by.
I have eaten at Pizza by Robert 3 times. Each time, I have waited on hold for 20-30 minutes before giving up, driving over and placing my order at the front counter. Today was the final straw for me. After waiting on the phone for 22 minutes, I hung up and drove over. The younger (relatively speaking) woman with tattoos became visibly annoyed when I asked to make a walk in order. I asked about an option to order online and inquired about the long wait time on the phone. She responded in a rude tone “this is our whole staff working, it is what it is.” While she was taking my order, I noticed the woman who was supposed to taking phone calls was deliberately putting calls on hold so she could chat and gossip with a coworker. I later found out she's actually the owner… WOW. I sat in the restaurant for 30 minutes while my pizza was being cooked and observed that the person cutting and boxing fresh pizzas was not wearing gloves, picking up spilled ingredients with bare hands and throwing back onto the pizza, and at one point accidentally dropped a cleaning rag used to clean the counters right on top of a fresh pie out of the oven.
I will be taking a break from Pizza by Robert indefinitely. I will return, and if the service is better I will re-assess and possibly give a better...
Read moreOrdering experience was definitely interesting. Might have just called at a busy time but it seemed I was answered and hung up the first 2 times I tried calling. Had a couple pies but the one I had was a deep dish with pepperoni and Alfredo sauce. Much like Angelo's and Fatbob, they have the breadcrumbs under the pie for extra crunch which I enjoyed. The Alfredo sauce wasn't overpowering and seemed to compliment the saltiness of the pepperoni quite well. As others have mentioned tho, there was a fair amount of grease and I felt the pie itself wasn't as thick as I had expected. We finished up our meal with a cream cheese desert pizza and man was that a showstealing surprise! Was almost like a cheesecake in pizza form. Absolutely delicious. Overall, if you don't mind shelling out a little more for pizza, they're definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a pizza away from your typical...
Read moreI grew up on this place and it has the best pizza around here! I actually haven't had it in a while and I'm gonna grab a pizza from them tonight! I'm praying they are still the same! The seafood pizza was my all time favorite and the Hawaiian. You won't go wrong even with just the plain cheese. The crust is the best and tastes way different than any other place I have had, the deep dish is the best! Also, they have really good calzones and salads. It can be a bit pricey, but if you are looking for something delicious and different this is your place. They do charge for delivery so if you are not trying to pay extra for that and the tip go and pick it up, that's what we usually did. I think it's like a $5 or $6 charge for the delivery. Luckily we live just a bit down the street. I'll rate again tonight after we get ours and let people know if it is...
