The lack of cleanliness of this hotel was very obvious. After we checked into the hotel and headed to our room (which was the last of its size left - king suite), it was obvious from all the hotel halls that we walked in, had not been swept because they all were dirty with bits of trash or debris. We did see a vacuum in one of the halls, but not once during our 4 night stay did we hear a vacuum run.....and the halls stayed dirty. When we went into our room, there were crumbs on the table and work desk. There was a sticky spot on the bedside table like a soda had been spilled at one time and never wiped up. There were left over drinks, yogurt and a to-go container of mystery food from the previous customer left in the fridge that had never been cleaned out. The fridge looked as if it had never been wiped out....very sticky inside. There was what looked like a pile of pencil shavings that had been scattered on the floor next to the couch that hadn't been swept up. Since I saw the vacuum in the hall as we came to our room, I went and got it and swept up the mess. I took the left overs out of the fridge, put them in a trash can and left it outside our door (it was never emptied until the next day). I got a wash cloth from the bathroom, got it wet and wiped away all the crumbs and sticky spots. The tissue box in the bath was empty. One of my kids was going to sleep on the pull out sofa bed. When I pulled it out, there was used bedding still on it with crumbs and hairs all over it (disgusting). I took all the old bedding off and went to the dresser and closet to get a new (clean?) set to put on the bed. I found the zip up plastic bedding bag in the closet, but all it had in it was a pillow with what looked like a blood stain on it with no pillow cover (no sheets, blankets or comforter). I went to the front desk and told them my concerns. They said "oh, I am sorry about that, we will get some new bedding up to you shortly". Did it ever come? Nope. I went to the front desk a second time about an hour later and they said the same thing....this time it showed up about 5 minutes later. My 2 kids were excited about going swimming and wanted to go check out the pool. As soon as we entered the pool room, I could tell that we were NOT going to go swimming in it. Instead of clear water, I saw a dark cloudy green pool. Even my excited to swim kids said "eew, what is wrong with the water". I have more to say but unfortunately this survey box only allows...
Read moreClean and relaxing after having had a nightmare experience trying to rent a place for the weekend with airbnb. To their credit- the airbnb rep got me a full refund- another story for another review ;) I asked around 2 other places in the area who told me they were completely booked. Very relieved to find something last minute here at Fairfield- for the same price i would have paid for the poor quality airbnb house. All the staff here were helpful, smart, kind. I was in no doubt that my stay would be enjoyable and I was right. Room was clean bedding was perfect, I even checked under the fitted sheets and mattress protectors and the mattress looked amazing. Places like this make me feel more civilized as a human while I'm there. Beds were sooooo comfy. I overpacked for a weekend and actually used the drawers to store my stuff this time- never thought those would be useful growing up. Hangers in the closet were nice quality- i also used those. The screen to the window wouldn't retract with what I assumed was the controls on the wall, but really there wouldn't have been much of a view out that direction anyway so I didn't mind. Also it may have been some privacy/ decency policy they have to keep it down. Bathroom had interesting black and white tile designs on floor, a couple of nice clean cloth shower curtains and best of all- large containers of shampoo conditioner and body wash attached to the wall with pump dispensers. The conditioner was high quality and made my hair feel soft :)big bonus. Didn't use the pool or the workout room but if I had time I would have- and would have had them all to myself, too ;) since nobody else was in there. Could hear some young children in the room above on and off for a couple hours but I take that kind of thing in stride- kids are kids and being excited to stay in a hotel is something I can relate to, im not gonna be that grump/grinchy Karen who can't stand children. 5 out of 5 for this stay, no question. Oh and the included breakfast had nice crispy bacon one of the mornings. Also the parking was free and decent- being shared with the Riverwalk...
Read moreThe best part was Dennis, the bartender! I was not feeling well and his hot toddy made me better! On check out day, I took my kids to the breakfast area and I asked about the ham...Maria(also known as Lilia....the kitchen manager) made about 12 to 15 slivers of ham. She said how many and I said all of them..there was no other meat. I asked if she could make more oatmeal. It wasn't even 10am and she said, "no. .no..I not making more of da oatmeal". I speak Spanish also so I told her no problem and began putting the rest in a bowl for my kids. By the look she gave, you would of thought, "did she personally buy the breakfast food?" Bad customer service! As for checking out, Kelly at the front desk must have been busy! I called around 9am and asked for a 1pm check out due to the hot water was not hot enough for a total of four of us to bathe by noon check out. She immediately said that the charge would be $25. Ummm....what?!? She said there were others who wanted a late check out, so she had to charge my Family and I if stayed to bathe ... wow. ..okay Kelly, thanks for the customer service...NOT! Then I dealt with Maria over food....bad, bad, bad customer service ! Once I viewed my receipt while at home, there was two extra taxes added called CONVENTION AND TOURISM TAX $2.20 and WATERWALK DISTRICT FEE $4.50-small change, but they should of stated there was extra fees no matter how much they were. What if thier guest couldn't afford it?!? Lastly, my view was the highway. It ended up being entertainment. ..I won't even mention what we saw and heard outside .... YIKES ! I will not recommend FAIRFIELD INN & SUITES..... UNLESS you want to talk to Dennis who was the best part of our two day stay! Wait. ..Scott (front desk) was also helpful. The females need to learn customer service from the Gentleman and I PROMISE my Family and friends will NEVER spend the night at this location again....
