We walked over at 6pm and ordered carry out on a Saturday after checking in at our rental. They have 4 outside picnic tables with umbrellas and they looked nice and clean. No one was using them.
Inside there are a few tables but only one was occupied. The place was busy for carry out and our order took 35 minutes, which was great considering the challenges of getting carry out or getting seated in the Crest (on a Saturday especially).
My wife got the steak burrito and she really enjoyed half of it. She saved half for lunch leftovers. It came with a tiny side of guacamole.
I got the 3 Mexican ground beef tacos. They came with half a lime, a little roasted onion, some radish slices and two sauces, one green and mild and one red with a little kick. Pretty satisfying! Be aware they use corn tortillas so if you're used to flour and prefer flour you might be surprised.
The boys both got the chicken tenders and fries (of course) and they were fried nicely and were more like an adult portion -- three decent sized tenders and a load of fries.
The drink cooler is full of Jarritos sodas and other soft drinks made with REAL SUGAR, not the high fructose corn syrup garbage.
Nice little...
Read moreCame here with my brother and cousin an hour or two after lunchtime. Got chorizo, chicken and al pastor tacos [$14 per order of 3 tacos], one (sizeable) steak burrito [$15] and one torta milanesa, which came with a side of fries [~$15]. Food was absolutely on point! Food was rich in flavor, but not overly so. Despite the tacos being the smallest things we ordered, we felt that we would be satisfied if they were the only things we had eaten because they were so rich! Large portions, good salsa, all around fantastic food. Haven't had tacos (or any mexican food) this good in NJ before, so we enjoyed our time here immensely.
The wait was a little long (~30-45 mins despite there being no one in dine-in and not many people arriving to pick up a take out order) THOUGH I DOUBT THIS IS A NORMAL OCCURENCE.
The family that owns the restaurant are very nice and unassuming, which adds to the atmosphere. Awesome to see everyone contributing to the success of the business, and we could tell they were sincerely happy when we complemented their food.
Will definitely make this place a...
Read moreMy husband and I stopped at El Alebrije for lunch on a whim after wanting to go to Bandanas but found that Bandanas was closed! Well I'm so happy they were otherwise we would've missed out on the magic. The food we had at El Alebrije was OUTSTANDING. I got the Chilaquiles Verde with steak and my husband got the tacos Al Pastor. TO DIE FOR. Both of them. Flavor was superb. Everything was so fresh and looked stunning and came out piping hot. The sauces are my dream come true. I could've drank the habenaro sauce. The service was wonderful. Daniella was so kind and attentive. I cannot wait until I'm in Wild Wood again so we can go back! Thank you SO much everyone at El Alebrije for your hard work and to the chef who clearly puts so much love into the food. Absolutely some of the very best authentic Mexican food we've ever had! P.S I almost forgot. After telling our family about how delicious our food was, we went back with them that night for dinner! It...
