I came across Barrys from an random news article, so I drove down to Wildwood to try the "Best Cinnamon Buns in NJ".. And they were absolutely phenomenal. BUT!! I thing the large cinnamon buns have too much icing on them. Unfortunately, to me, it made them really sweet. On the other hand the mini's that have no icing... are amazing and moist by themselves. I'm not saying the icing isn't good but just in smaller doses. I would just perfer having a large cinnamon bun with icing on the side or a light amount of icing.
I also have to mention that I tried some of their cookies and a poptart.... WOW!!!... They alone made the hr drive to Barrys worth it. I literally could NOT stop eating them. I would 10/10 recommend. I dont remember what the names were, i'm sorry. I believe one was the sand dune which was a giant chocolate chip cookie. The other one was a rainbow sprinkles cookie... That cookie made my tongue.. dance.. 10/10. Everything I had was great, you can't go wrong.
My advice is to get there early. The first time I went there around 1230pm right before they closed and they were out of everything. The other 2 times I went and I arrived around 10am. I was basically able to get whatever I wanted. Also check the website for the times and days that they're open.. They close around 1.. which is early and I believe they were closed...
Read moreWow, disappointing and poor customer service. 2 of us stopped in for some sweets. We ordered 1 chocolate chip cookie and 1 apple crumb bun. They had a new tray of apple crumb on display, as well as a little bit of an old one. The leftover, old apple crumb was very small, a little smushed and had zero crumb topping. We asked for a bun from the new tray that looked so much nicer and told them why. We were told no, they have a process and you can't have anyone except for the small, no crumb leftover piece. We were shocked and didn't care for that but took it anyway. At the register, the total came to $11. What?? 1 cookie was $5! That's almost comical. After that, we find out the buns are buy 1 get 1. They should have a large sign(s) telling customers that. We would have gotten 2 for 1 buns and skipped the overpriced, $5 cookie. Another issue was they packed our order in a small paper bag and should have used a box. When we got home to eat them, they were smashed together and some of the bun was stuck to the bag. The bun and cookie were both good. Not great, not terrible. Overall a bad experience and we won't be returning. Too many other places around with similar food, better customer service and cookies...
Read moreKinda confused as to why there is always a line but we finally decided to pop over and see what the hype was about. They have a LOT of variety, but as is always the case with so much variety, if the base product isn’t that great, none of the “flavors” will be great either.
The rolls were dense and dry, the crumb cake was dense and dry, and the butter cake is all sugar and no gooey butter at all. A little bit of microwaving with a wet towel helped the “fresh” buns but that butter cake is just awful.
I would say that this bakery is okay. It’s fine. But there are much better bakeries with much better buns that don’t have that explicitly listed in...
