The name and signage meant that we would have missed the place if we hadn't been looking for it. It was recommended by someone at work.
We walked in, nobody greeted us. We walked up to the counter and asked if we could look at a menu. They handed us one beautiful menu. It was well laid out, beautiful descriptions and photos. It was quite large so we asked if we could sit to look at it. They gave us to go menu to read which was much smaller and more difficult to read for us old people.
Eventually, someone came to our table with another larger menu and one bottle of water... There were 2 of us. We still were unsure if we needed to go to the counter to order.
The guy did come back to take our order. We asked if they had diet soda... We are diabetic. He said only Coke and Sprite, no diet. So I asked for another bottle of water instead. My husband asked me if I saw diet Coke in the cooler, I want sure. He went up and they had diet Coke the guy never did ask if we wanted the other water.
But the food... Oh so good. I ordered the Paneer Tikka Masala. He asked if we wanted naan with it so we did order some. When he came with our orders, he put my husband's order in front of me and mine in front of him. He didn't say which was which. They were both dishes of stuff in sauce. It's a good thing I don't have nut allergies because he gave me the dish with nuts in it! Great! It all turned out but they need to be more careful. We both liked the food a lot...
Not so much the service. Still waiting for a to go container and check... It's been quite a while since he brought out the food and never once checked on us.
Oh, and no toilet paper... There goes another star... Too bad because the did...
Read moreMy experience dining at Food Trail was highly disappointing. Service took time although the restaurant was empty except for the two of us. We had high hopes after reading the reviews but the dosa and the pav bhaji served were far from good.
Sweetness overload: Dosa, sambar, chutney, bhaji - everything was SWEET. I mean who adds sugar in dosa batter?!
Dosa batter: The consistency of the dosa was very concerning as it seemed like made from a store brought batter or something whipped up last minute using rice flour and suji. Dosa batter is traditionally made by soaking urad dal, rice & fenugreek seeds for several hours before grinding & fermenting them together. As a South Indian, I was offended by the dosa they gave me. This one goes in my worst 10 meals I have had so far.
As for the pav bhaji, the only thing that tasted close to okay was the pav bun. The bhaji was once again sweet and drenched with oil and ghee that it became a chore to eat.
The only saving grace was the sweet server lady. I'm really not sure if this was a one-off or this is how they generally prepare food. Very disappointed with their food given their highly...
Read moreI recently visited Food Trail in Wilkes-Barre Township and had an amazing experience. The food was incredibly tasty, with authentic Indian flavors that reminded me of home. Everything that i ate is tasty and feels like dining in an Indian house.
The jeera rice with ghee was aromatic and perfectly cooked. The dal tadka was rich and comforting, while the chole had a deep, flavorful sauce. The paneer butter masala was creamy and delicious, making it a standout dish.
The ambience was perfect, creating a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The customer service was excellent, with staff being attentive and friendly. Everything from the presentation of the dishes to the cleanliness of the restaurant was top-notch. Highly recommend this place for anyone craving genuine Indian cuisine. Definitely a...
