We travel all over the fine USA and eat at Denny's often, almost a road staple. So.... we had an occasion to visit this Denny's and we were overwhelmed with how terrible it was. Specifics. Coffee was stone cold and way old, the server did replace said terrible java with a fresher brew. But still, why pawn off cold old brew. Server seemed to have a problem taking our order, not in too much of a hurry was she. We almost got up to leave after an extended waiting time. So stupidly I ordered a medium rare t-bone and eggs breakfast type meal. Mistake mistake mistake. Hash browns were still in pre-cooked blanched state when they arrived for me to crunch on and eat, sad sad sad. My meat was neither a t-bone or medium rare. My meat arrived and upon cutting the "steak"... hold it, I couldn't, dang thing was so much like jerky it would not cut. Eventually I was able to carve thru the petrified protein. Crazy thing also, the dang steak was not a t-bone or anything close to a t-bone. Absolute false description in the menu. The fine Denny's people are liars, and that's not acceptable. Server asked about my meal and I stated it was not good at all She mentioned she was not the cook but sorry it was bad and did offer to replace it(no thanks) my wife was already done her meal. Cashier also asked how meal was and when I said it was not very good he was instantly disinterested and said nothing, no sorry, no offer of a discount(was not looking for a reduced bill anyway, not out style). Terrible meal, terrible service, terrible Denny's. And yes, we did pay full price for meals and also tipped 20% , we were stand up customers. I suggest go to Cracker Barrel, I know...
Read moreI went in for breakfast one morning and ordered homes fries with peppers & onions at the Denny's in Wilkes Barre. When my waitress brought my plate there was hair on my plate being served up with my home fries. I pointed it out along with my home fries were fried to hard & she took my plate back to the cook's window & advised him. She returned with home fries fried up like rocks again w/o the hair this time. She was very rude & noncaring. I then asked for the manager. He came over to my area where i was seated to address the issue. He was very rude & dismissive to me when i told him what had took place. He then took the 2nd order back to the cook's window. When he returned w/o my food he said to me in a nasty tone that i didn't tell him about the hair in my food. I said to him that was the very 1st thing that i had told him. He then said "well, my boss is here today so i have a lot to do". I couldn't believe what he had said. Then the district manager came over to me and he was so polite & apologetic. He comped my breakfast & i had refused. I advised him that i had no problem paying for my breakfast and that wasn't the point. He insisted and was generally concerned about the issue at hand. If it had not been for the very respectful & caring General Manager i would've just got up and left. Denny's is very lucky to have a General Manager like him (i apologize for not remembering his name) but he was excellent and i enjoyed my breakfast that he saw to it that it was prepared correct and he brought it over to me. Thank you Denny's General Manager of...
Read moreI set the bar pretty low when I walk into a Denny's, but this last visit set it even lower. Our server was great up until she brought our food out and said she was going on her break and to ask another server if we need anything. That would have been fine if the other servers ever got close enough to our table to ask. We were sat in an empty section where none of the other servers had any reason to go in.
Our booth was cold and drafty compared to the rest of the store. It made for a slightly uncomfortable visit since half the table and it's contents were cold to the touch
The food was good and made exactly how we ordered it. 10/10 in that aspect. The drafty window did cool our food faster than we'd like though.
When we tried using a coupon at the register it caused problems the cashier couldn't clear without the Manager's help. Instead of helping him, she said she's too busy and tried asking us if we needed a table for 2. We declined, since we still didn't pay for our first meal. She sat the couple behind us in line and left the cashier to figure it out. I think someone from the kitchen ended up helping him ring us up.
Overall it was a disappointing visit. I'll try waffle...
