Oath 84: A Date Night Oasis in the Blizzard
My wife and I braved a snowstorm, two hours, and icy roads to celebrate her birthday at Oath 84, and it was worth every white-knuckled mile. Arriving past sunset, we snagged a prime spot out front – a tip: street parking fills fast after 6 PM, so reservations are your best bet (which we wisely had).
Stepping inside was like entering a warm, dimly lit haven from the winter's fury. Gentle music and animated conversations hummed in the background, creating a lively yet intimate atmosphere perfect for a special dinner. Whether you're looking for cocktails and conversation or a romantic date night, Oath 84 hits the mark.
We kicked things off with the jerk chicken egg rolls – a flavor explosion that had our taste buds doing the tango. My wife went for the lamb chops and lobster mac and cheese, a luxurious duo that left her absolutely swooning. The mac and cheese was a decadent masterpiece, and the lamb chops were cooked to melt-in-your-mouth perfection.
Now, I'm a crab cake connoisseur, and while Oath 84's version was delicious, I was surprised by the filler. It was tasty, but I craved a more crab-centric experience.
As for the cocktails, they were like little liquid works of art. Our server, a delightful font of drink knowledge, guided us through the creative menu, and each sip was a revelation.
If you're looking for a cozy, delicious, and utterly romantic escape from the ordinary, Oath 84 is your answer. Just remember, reservations are your friend, and be prepared for a flavor adventure that will leave you wanting more. We'll definitely be back (hopefully without the blizzard next time) to explore more of their menu and soak up that warm, inviting atmosphere.
Final Verdict: Oath 84 = Date Night Bliss (with a side of jerk chicken egg...
Read moreDidn't have the opportunity to eat or drink here when i visited, but this review is for the atmosphere and service exceptional kindness of the staff. We were parked in the garage that is attached to their restaurant and we were 9 minutes late getting back to the garage before it closed. We were hanging out with our friend's band after their show at the QUEEN and lost track of time. Totally our fault, but we couldn't get into the garage. It was suggested for us to walk around the corner to Oath 84 and ask if they could help us. Apparently this is a nightly occurrence and the staff deals with this often. They were closing as well and could have been not nice about it, but the owner welcomed me in, shook my hand, and personally walked me through their back entrance to the parking garage. Not only that but he offered to get us a soft drink for the road! He had already been more than kind, so I politely refused the offer as I didn't wish to trouble him any further. We are from a nearby city but we will definitely be patronizing this establishment next time we are in Wilmington.
To the owner, I want to thank you for your kindness, something that seems to be lacking in many places these days. I want to thank you again, and I wish you much success with your business.
If you are in the area, please visit. These are the type of owners that really...
Read moreThis was our first time visiting, we went on a Friday after work, sat at the bar, and were greeted warmly and provided with water and menu's. It was not crowded at this time.
There was one Bartender on duty that we could see, and it took a while for us to order. Finally a 2nd Bartender came and took our order, which was timely because we were thinking of leaving.
The drinks and food were excellent, and the service from the 2nd Bartender was great. He took the time to provide feedback on the menu, and help us decide on drinks and appetizers. Later in the evening, we no longer saw our Bartender, and there were noticeably more people there at this time.
We could not get to order any more drinks or food, as the first Bartender who greeted us was the only one left.
A young man that was restocking the bar, was kind enough to let the Bartender know that we wanted our checks, and after getting our checks, it took a while to close us out.
The one Bartender left was busy making drinks for customers at the bar as well as the tables. They definitely needed at least two bartenders to improve the service.
Otherwise than what was lacking in service, there was a great atmosphere (crowd, music, ambience), and we are hoping our next experience will be better, if and...
