This evening, my family and I decided to try out Bamboo Garden, a new Chinese restaurant in Wimberley, Texas. Overall, it was a mixed experience, with some promising aspects and a few areas that could use improvement. The Setup: First, getting to the restaurant was a bit of an adventure. The parking and entrance were somewhat confusing, but nothing a few better signs couldn’t fix. Once inside, the space was nicely arranged and had a welcoming atmosphere. It didn’t take long for the restaurant to get busy, and despite the rush, the two servers and food runners managed to keep things moving smoothly. The Food: We ordered chow mein, pad Thai, sweet and sour pork, and General Tso’s chicken. The portions were generous, and the meat in each dish was juicy and well-cooked—definitely a highlight. However, the flavors fell a little short. Each dish felt like it was just shy of being very good , as if there was a missing layer of seasoning. The sweet tea was barely sweet, and even the soy sauce seemed underwhelming in flavor. On the plus side, the food was served warm (though not piping hot), and the portions were generous. The Experience: Despite the food being a bit underwhelming for the adults, my kids loved it, which says a lot about its family-friendly appeal. We all left feeling full and satisfied, and I appreciate the effort Bamboo Garden puts into getting the restaurant up and running for everyone in town who was excited to dine there. Final Thoughts: While Bamboo Garden didn’t blow us away, it’s still a solid option, especially for families. It has the potential to become a local favorite with a few tweaks to the menu’s seasoning and some improvements to the overall flavor profile. We’ll definitely be back for another try, as the convenience and atmosphere make it worth a...
Read moreFirst time trying this new Wimberley staple! We had held off a few weeks based on other folks reviews but decided tonight was the night! First, the outside is deceptive but once you turn in there is plenty of parking and the building is bigger then it appears. Seems pretty busy but still had a few tables available. We had placed our order online for pickup and only had to wait a few minutes before our food came out. When they brought out our order a woman who seemed to be in charge said she wanted to double check it which was great for us since the bag was tied shut and it was hard to tell if everything in our pretty substantial order was there. That frustrates me since when we got it home we were missing two orders of egg rolls. Everything else was there and delicious! The full entrees are a really large size and will feed a person twice! The fried rice and chow mein were a bit smaller than we expected but everything was really good! It wasn’t terribly hot but that’s more on us for having to drive home. All that said, after we ate I contacted the restaurant about the two orders of egg rolls missing. They indicated that they wouldn’t give a refund unless we drove back to the restaurant's and proved that the egg rolls weren’t there. I told them to forget about it but that this is something they are likely to need to improve customer service wise moving forward. My recommendation is to definitely go and enjoy but if it’s a to go order make sure you double check it even if they have said they are double checking it for you. I’m sure it would not have been an issue if I cut open the bag on site and checked....
Read moreApparently they have been having major issues, we’ve been trying to try them all weekend but they apparently only opened for 3 hours today(during which time google said they were temporarily closed still). I’ve been calling all weekend but even when they have employees there they refuse to answer the phone to give any info on either of their lines, even while they were supposedly open today the online ordering said they weren’t so we didn't even know they were open because the only place you can get any information at all is Facebook. I am definitely going to change the review once they get their act together to preform as a restaurant. (Edit) They still don’t answer the phone or take orders online, my wife drove up there and caught them open and ordered for us, long wait because they are still severely understaffed, then it turned out that the lady who took the order misheard my wife ordering me General tso’s and I ended up with the house special beef and broccoli somehow, it was ok but for some reason the beef was breaded then fried and for a bit too long so it was dry on the inside but soaked in sauce on the outside. The pork rolls were alright and the wontons were alright, nothing special in any way, the fried rice was...
