Well I fully expected to be leaving a positive review for Snow White Grill but after the the experience the wife and I had today it just isn't happening. So after they have been open a little while now we decided to go today fully expecting it to be like a lot of reviews are stating that it is just like it was back in the day but in fact it wasn't even close. I have lived in Winchester all my 63 years and have had plenty of Snow White back in the day so I feel confident in saying that it's far from the original. The young man on the grill was burning the onions and the burgers and wasting more onions than was actually going on the burgers. So after we were served our burgers we noticed there were no onions on them and the gentleman next to us stated the same thing so I voiced out to the owner himself fully expecting him to apologize and offer us fresh burgers with onions this time but instead this was his response and I quote " Oh well sometimes it's the luck of the draw" I of course was in disbelief of this response and couldn't believe such a cheerful guy would treat his paying customers this way so all I could do is go about eating our onionless burnt on the outside and not done on the inside burgers that cost us $22 and change. I can't believe this is the poor quality they are serving even after having Dave himself show them the ropes, apparently so one wasn't paying attention? Also we never had any employees ask how things were or if we needed refills which we did need but never got. I truly wish I could leave a positive review but we and the gentleman and his brother next to us all left feeling very disappointed. I think Dave, Bobby Ambrose, and Buzzy would all be disappointed at what was served up today at Snow White Grill 😥 In closing from what I remember of how the burgers were cooked, the onions went down on the grill first then the burger was pressed on top of them cooking a little then the flip to cook other side then cheese if it was to be a cheeseburger then into the buns then into the steam drawer to get moist and luscious but none of that happened today...so sad. I especially picked my wife up from work to take her to lunch today just to patronize Snow White Grill in support of hometown small business but we both felt let down and wanting We may try them again but really don't know at this point, I especially felt let down by the new owner, after all this all reflects...
Read moreI have been coming here since I was a kid. It has changed hands several times, and I am happy to report that the burgers and fries have stayed consistently awesome! I have read some reviews that criticized that the burgers are made up ahead of time and kept in a warmer. That is correct and the warmer in no way compromises the quality of the food. The warmer is a steamer and the burgers always taste fresh and are never dried out. The fries are made to orger so they are always hot. They have added and deleted other things over the years, but the food isn't the only attraction. This is a 50's style soda shop with counter service that is unique in this age . My only complaint is that they will be closed at odd hours. As someone in the food service business for many years, it is unprofessional to close in the middle of the day when you have hours posted that do not reflect that. Also, if you need to close for some RARE and unplanned ocassion, you should post a sign that explains the closure and also have the time that you will reopen. Additionally, you should have a manager or shift leader in house at all time to cover when...
Read more(Original 2019) It truly pains me to write a one-star review. After all, their burgers really hit the spot, especially for a quick lunch. Staff is courteous and professional.
However, after going there no less than ten times during normal business hours to be either greeted with a closed sign or outdoor-only dining, this review just had to be written.
Hours are so bad, I would caution against planning lunch here. Google may say that it's open but once you show up, it's closed.
Sadly, I believe this will cause the business to fail - potential customers deserve predictability in hours.
I would welcome the opportunity to change my review star rating once I see their own business hours are preserved. The place has so much potential.
EDIT (March 2025): Revisted 5 years later. With new owners, the original menu is gone. Gone are the deluxe burgers with lettuce, tomatoes. Gone are the tater tots. Despite the slimmed down menu, the wait for food was 4x longer, waiting upwards to 20 mins. If they can get their with to 5 minutes or less, it may be...
