The wife and I decided to venture off and try some place new to eat. After we seen Macados menu, we decided to order to-go. I got the corned beef rueben with a side of fries, she got the pastrami with fries and our kids got pizza. Once she placed the order we made our way their. (20 min drive) I found parking in an alley and the wife went to go get the food. She waited 20 minutes to be acknowledged, waited another 15 for our food.
After receiving the food she comes straight out to where I was parked (about a 2 minute walk) anxious to eat we pass the food out and begin to dig in. After opening the box I noticed very little COLD fries and a sandwich that looked miserable, like it was made with hate/depression with a side of jack daniels. I took 1 bite of this thing and instantly regretted it! The cheese was not melted, the bread was not toasted THE CORNED BEEF WAS COLD AND SLIMY STILL! đ THEY NEVER COOKED IT! Now I'm annoyed, I ask the kids about their pizza and they said it's cold. My wife is now inspecting her sandwich, knowing my reaction, she is nervous. She notices the same thing and instantly put it back in the bag and walked back in to talk to the manager. After another 10 minutes she is acknowledged, and asks to speak to the manager. The manager comes out a few minutes later and tells her he's sorry and my wife asks for a refund. He proceeds to tell her, that ordering online is through doordash and that they can't just refund our almost 50 dollars but it would be refunded in a few days. We'll now it's a few days later and my wife called to ask about the status of the refund and the manger tells her that he didn't know about it and apparently the guy who was managing that night just erased the items. With that being said there was never going to be a refund for us. I will never go back to this place and will tell whoever I can not to even try thus place of establishment. I would give the a -5 star if I could. Do yourself a favor and try somewhere else and don't literally waste your money
Now I want y'all to know my wife and I have been in the restaurant industry for 15yrs+ I run a kitchen and she is the brains for out front. We know how it can be if busy, the place was not terribly busy and the food we got should take no more than 8 mins to make not 45 and YOU DIDNT EVEN COOK IT. The front of house was struggling as well. Some places can't handle the volume of online orders and I definitely feel this is one of them.
Best of luck, we are still waiting on our refund so if you're a manager/owner reading this,...

Alright, so I'm a bit partial to this restaurant because there was one near my college and perhaps a bit of nostalgia will creep into this review.
Anyways, I was in Winchester getting my truck worked on and found my way downtown. Much to my surprise after parking in a nearby garage I spotted the Macado's and was taken back to another place and time.
Having not been inside one in over a decade it's where I ended up getting lunch. Anyways, long story short, the food was just as delicious now as it was back then. Unlike some sandwich shops you won't be disappointed with quantity of sandwich fillings. I ended up getting the "Babe Ruth" my go to back in the day.
The staff were very courteous. Despite my penchant for draining my beverage the wait staff kept my glass full. After seeing one of the drinks the bar was making (I think it was called the "cream-sicle" Vodka, Amaretto, and other goodness) I inquired as to what it was. They brought over a small sample for me to try (free of charge) that was leftover from the current drink. It tasted like a milkshake...try it, you're welcome.
The only qualm I had was with the french onion dip, because I think the recipe must have changed. It wasn't what I remembered, but hey, the only constant is change, right?
If you're in Winchester looking for a relaxed atmosphere, good food, and friendly staff it's worth grabbing a bite...
Read moreOk....I want to preface this negative review with this...I have had many great experiences at the Macado's in Boone, NC while in college at Appalachian State University. What the Winchester location lacks is consistency. My first ever visit which occurred shortly after it opened, our server was very friendly and did a great job dealing and helping with the neediness of my kids. The food however was not great. The second time I went with a much larger group and had top notch service and all 12 people present each enjoyed their orders and drinks being filled in a timely manner. The third and possibly my last time going, the service which didn't arrive until about 10 minutes after we sat down was terrible. Our appetizers did not come out together. We requested the kids entree's be served at the same time as the appetizers, and that didn't happen. The final product of what was served to me would have any decent or better chef up in arms. Chicken parmesan, which on the menu said there was a choice of grilled or breaded. Neither option was asked of me. It came out grilled, which I was fine with after the fact. Most chicken parmesan I've had was with breaded chicken and it makes a world of difference. Many of my noodles were cold. When I went to cut my chicken the melted cheese separated completely from the chicken, thus leaving a mess on my plate. It will be awhile...
