Monday night and a party of 4. There is no line. No waiting. The place is pretty empty. The hostess looks tired. She directs us to our seat.
We are seated at a table, and our waitress arrives. She's bubbly, energetic, and attentive. However, her super short, ripped denim shorts throw me off. Yes, I've never been here before and do not know what to expect. Her top is professional, and the bottom looks out of place.
We order our cocktails and drinks. A flight of 4 , a coke, and a French Bubbly Martini.
The flight arrives with a diet coke. The coke is returned after tasting it for a regular coke, and about 10 minutes later, we mention the Martini, and it's brought over with apologies.
The Martini is a bit sour and bitter. The pineapple juice must have been old. The hint - and I mean hint , for color not taste - of chambord was hardly noticeable. The bubbly did not compliment anything. Avoid it. Save your money , even during Happy Hour.
The other couple has been here before and already has their favorites in mind. A Philly cheesesteak grinder with fries and a Cubano with sweet potato fries.
We order the Chicken Parm Grinder with fries and the 3 Chicken bacon ranch sliders with fries. Oh, I almost forgot - everyone also got a pickle.
Here's the deal, meals are brought out on 1/4 size baking sheets with parchment paper on top. Nothing fancy or romantic about it. It's not that type of place.
Our friends enjoyed their meal, and half the Cubano ended up going home for their lunch the next day.
My hubby enjoyed his Chicken Parm Grinder. The meat was tender, the marina was not too spicy, and the roll wasn't soggy. By the time he got to his fries, they were cold in their metal bucket. He said they weren't exciting. Not like McDonald's fries are exciting when you first get them nice, hot, and crispy.
My sliders were okay. They were tasty and warm, not hot. Like my spouse, the fries were meh. Definitely not crispy. Burnt on the ends a bit and cooled off too quickly in their metal bucket.
Yes, the metal bucket is a poor choice to serve something hot. It's cute for presentation but surely not practical.
We all decided not to order dessert.
Did we finish our meals. Yes. Would I return with my hubby to this place again? Most likely not.
Why is pub food always beige or brown these days. What happened to color taste, or...
Read moreSee my past recent 1-star review below. As I mentioned, despite the past service history we do greatly enjoy coming here. Saturday we returned again to eat, drink and play the horses and give them another try. They obviously took my comments to heart as we were given an almost embarrassing red carpet treatment upon arrival. The waitress and bartender both came over and personally apologized for the level of service prior. That was very nice and professional of them. The service was almost too much. It was fantastic but I think I could have gotten my shoes shined too! : ) In looking around the entire place it truly seemed like everyone was getting a much higher level of service than before. Hope that remains consistent. The food, as always is good. The beer is cold. The horses unpredictable. All in all if you want to have a lively, diverse great time watching and playing a variety of sports and games, this is the place.
We love this place, except their service and management is nonexistent. We keep trying hoping it will get better, but it only gets worse. Today we were there from 1:30 to 6 pm. Numerous times we waited 20-30 minutes to get a refill. Your waitress Amber H should be working at Burger King. Food is decent. Bad part is this place is a gold mine waiting to be discovered by a management team that understands the business. We would have spent twice as much there today if we would have only been waited upon somewhat consistently. If you don't care about repeat customer business you have the correct plan in place. If you want to build consistent clientele then make the needed changes. There are a lot of places who will gladly take my money. Hope you...
Read moreI took my boyfriend and his friends there for his bday a few weeks ago. Drinks and food were good, tv's everywhere and a pretty good size bar. However, hostess was nowhere to be found for 10min before we got seated. There was only 5 small tables in the whole place and yet the service sucked. We were told by our waitress we had 15min to order before the kitchen closes then she ran away and didn't come back till we only had 2min left. After that, we didn't get refills (even after we asked) seeing as our glasses stayed empty otherwise. Two diff. servers brought our food out and sped off before we could ask for anything, then didn't see our server again till we wanted to pay. For the bill, i had to walk up and ask the bartender to grab it seeing as our waitress was MIA. We also had a surprise cake for my boyfriend that was told to the hostess AND the waitress about to bring after dinner. Nothing came and at that point, people wanted to leave. I again had to ask the bartender secretly to bring it out. Our waitress finally comes back with nothing and yells across the table if we still wanted the surprise cake out. Ummm HELLO it's not a surprise anymore....was very dissapointed. Place could be a 4 star in my book if the service wasn't so crappy and lacking...
