Walked into this Camino for the first time. I’ve been to the one on 4th street so many times and everyone is so friendly and professional. Absolutely recommend that one. This small one here I walked in and it was “cold.” I was having a friendly conversation with another customer on what she ordered when the young woman immediately jumped on me to wear a mask(it’s not posted to do so) so I willingly complied but asked her if she was okay? And she rudely said “Oh I’m just great!” I’m a peaceful person. And I genuinely wanted to know if she was okay or if I offended her but she just pointed to the masks so I grabbed one. I then ordered an eggnog chai tea latte the customer I was speaking with recommended and while I was sitting down I overheard them talking to another customer that they were out of eggnog. So when they called my order I came up and asked about that. The gentleman said he would go and check. He came back and didn’t say anything as he helped other customers. Another young lady came up to me minutes later and said “We don’t have any eggnog do you want a refund or something?” I asked her what was in it (I stay away from strictly dairy as much as I can). She said “whole milk.” I asked if she could remake it with oat milk, she didn’t say anything just walked away and made it. I was very polite and accommodating. I just don’t appreciate them making something that I didn’t want and writing what it should have been on the cup. The attitudes and the cold atmosphere with the dishonesty was very odd putting, especially since the one on 4th is sooooo warming and professional and I have a great time every time. This was a little saddening to be honest. And a few people from my church that I explained what happened all said the same thing. That’s it’s not a very friendly atmosphere. I recommend ByGood across the street if that area is convenient. But if you are up into 4th street I definitely recommend that Camino. I hope management makes some changes. I understand Covid is a sensitive topic for us all. But there was absolutely no reason to coldly force your personal agenda on anyone or act so irritated that other people don’t think or feel the same, and maybe not know what every establishments rules are. For they are all different around town. We are all walking through this life together and I recommend management to find someone a little older and kinder to lead the group of kids there, and I pray that they all find peace, love and joy in these troubling times. I have never left a review on anything before, but the way I was treated I hope nobody experiences.

This bakery should be embarrassed with the shoddy work they produce. My best friend got a cake from here to thank her coworkers after getting recommendations on where to get a cake. She paid $60 for a complete joke. I don’t know who writes on the cakes here, but she wanted “Thank You” on it. What she actually got (photo attached) is “Thanks You.” Really?! I literally can’t even. When brought to the attention of the employee working, the employee insisted repeatedly that it was spelled correctly. How is “Thanks You” correct?! Apparently, they teach a different version of English here. My friend left to fix the cake herself, which is completely unacceptable. This bakery should have fixed it IMMEDIATELY and apologized for THEIR mistake. My friend should have not had to leave distressed to fix the cake. She should have received what she paid for! To top it off, the cake was missing a freaking raspberry. It was nowhere to be found, and there’s only one place it could have been - which is in the box. My friend had to go to the grocery store to replace it. Utterly ridiculous. Not to mention, the spacing between the frosting/raspberries was atrocious. They were not AT ALL spaced evenly. Once again, see attached photo. I cannot understand why this place is so recommended because their craftsmanship is horrifying. A cake from the grocery store would have been better looking and cheaper! If you want a cake that looks like a kid did it, this place is for you.

Camino Bakery Brookstown is located right beside Old Salem and has a storefront that you cannot miss. This location welcomes their customers with the aroma with freshly baked goods and perfectly roasted coffee beans. Compared to the downtown location, the Brookstown Camino boasts a cozy atmosphere with pastel paintings on the walls and more than enough tables and chairs for their customers. Their Matcha Latte has a fairly strong flavor of matcha, and you honestly can't go wrong with their danishes or muffins. WORTH IT? YES, this location is much cuter and cozier than the downtown location! (Overall 7.5/10)

Used to LOVE this Camino location. It was my weekly treat for the longest time... been coming since 2016, almost 6 years! Sadly it has gone downhill, particularly this past year.

To be clear the bread is good. The issue is consistent disappointment with the front end staff.

In the past, w their long time employees, you walked into a professional & welcoming atmosphere. But now the employees are surprisingly rude and impatient. Like they have better things to be doing 😔, but instead they're stuck there taking your order. The attitude is like one huge eye roll at everyone entering the bldg. I miss the old crew!

To be clear this isn't a case of someone simply having a bad day. I write bad reviews a tiny % of the time, I lean towards positive reviews. But this is a long term pattern.

*Tip: There are so many other AWESOME coffee & bakery shops knocking it out of the park in Winston-Salem: SaySo has a great staff & superb coffee/espresso, Krankie's is an old stand by, Bobby Boy has reeeally good quality baked goods & good espresso, Bitty & Beau's Coffee is adorable.and Louie & Honey's is also aaamazing probably the best in W-S at this point for baked goods imo, and their espresso/lattes hold up as well. Washington Perk is another fave and while it's not coffee, Chads Chai is SO GOOD!

This morning was the final straw. 3/30/22. The young woman taking our order was super rude. Un-ignorably so. When we walked in, no one else was there. We assumed that was a good thing. We said 'hello!' and the response we received in return literally caused me to flashback to when my daughter was 13 and I told her to clean her room before she could go out ;)

I glanced at my husband in the middle of my interaction with the employee to gauge if he was picking up on it and he nodded and shrugged. We agreed it's the last time we'll ever enter this location. I'm super sad. But at this point it's like an abusive relationship.

I hope management can step in and address the negative atmosphere thriving at the Brookstown location. I hate to see all the years of effort on the part of former employees...
