We have been coming to Azteca since they were at the old location in the Walmart plaza downtown. It was a gem back then!! Great Food Large Portions that included all of the fixings like shredded cheese, chopped tomatoes and lettuce, sour cream and guacamole, so that you could dress up your tortillas filled with carne asada, shrimp, chicken, rice, refried beans, sautรฉed onions and peppers absolutely delicious THEN. NOW: we usually come here for special occasions, when family from out of town visits or when we're just craving good tasty Mexican food. We brought our father who was visiting from out of town and we ordered the most expensive meals on the menu as we always did. When the meals arrived I immediately noticed that the plates were half the size as what they used to be. As we began to dig in my wife asked me WHERE IS THE SOUR CREAM SHREDDED CHEESE CHOPPED LETTUCE TOMATOES AND GUACAMOLE??? I immediately asked the waiter who replied "it doesn't come with any of those things" and I said to him we have been coming to Azteca for over 15 years and it has always come with the meal that costs $38.00!! He stood firmly and repeated that no it doesn't come with the meal. A few moments later the manager who wasn't friendly, empathetic or hospitable, came over and asked if there was a concern. I explained to him how we always received the fixings with our meals for as long as we had been coming to Azteca. He stood there stone faced and boldly said that it had been over a year that the owners of this corporation of restaurants (because they are a chain owned by a group of investors) had decided to re evaluate the menu and the business model and had decided to remove any extra/additional items that previously came with and complimented the meal/dish!! These are basic staples to Mexican food but they no longer give that with your $40.00 meal!?!? These are absolutely essential to the recipe and the Mexican culture and Mexican dishes and Cuisine!! He then firmly and facetiously said that he could SELL me whatever I wanted but that those items were not available with the meal. Had I not had been there with my father, I would have walked right out and left the food on the table. On our last couple of visits I could see, taste and feel the difference and the decline of the quality of the food, the portions and the ambiance of the restaurant. I can tell you wholeheartedly that we will never be going back to Azteca Restaurants Anymore or Anywhere. What was once a wonderful experience has now become a thought of the...

So to be seated around 12:30 & not leave at 3pm because of TERRIBLE SERVICE is inexcusable. Waiting approximately 10 minutes for water & 3 soft drinks. ๐
Our waitress informed us that the computer froze & she needed to take our orders for a 2nd time. This was after we asked to speak to a manager. ๐ However the other tables in our vacinity were ordering & receiving their food in a reasonable amount of time. No, it wasn't a racial thing the people coming & going were of different races/ethnic groups.
As we sat waiting for our entrees the Nacho chip basket sat empty as several servers walked past ignoring are table. Drinks needed refills and we sat at our table freezing with blasts of cold air blowing down on us from the vents.
We had to ask several people for refills on the Nachos and ASK 4 TIMES TO SPEAK WITH A MANAGER. I wanted to leave but my sister insisted on staying to eat. Everything was good EXCEPT my black beans ๐ท๐๐ญ.
Last thing the check. We even had to wait longer than normal for the waitress to process the bill. She only came when part of the group stood up as if we were leaving. So as she processed the bill we informed the hostess that a manager never came. On our way out we finally spoke with 2 managers. One agreed to call my sister after investigating the matter...she's still waiting for a...
ย ย ย Read moreJust left about 20 minutes ago and really felt the need to write a review. Our experience left a lot to be desired from a service point of view. Our food was delicious as always. Served hot, full of flavor and prompt. Our server must have been having a bad day as he barely greeted us and when I said that we would wach have iced tea now and a drink later, he totally gave up on us like we were going to be a cheap table. He never tried to sell appetizers or even mentioned a drink for us to try when our tea was gone. We hardly saw him, so we never had the chance to order a drink. He never offered dessert, just put the check on the table. I paid cash and where there was change due, he rounded off in his favor.... wow. I've been in the restaurant business for over 40 years, and have always been known to be very generous to my server. Since he seemed not to care about my experience, he shouldn't be unhappy with the 18% I left that he certainly didn't deserve. One thing about being a server during 50% occupancy, you should maximize your sales to insure greater gratuity, not only does it enhance the dining experience for the guest, but enhances your pocket as well. I gave him clues that he could have sold me at least $25 more which would have definitely doubled what I left for him. Easily. Don't judge the guest, you never know when you're waiting on somebody like me. We will be back because the food is that good. I won't name the server out of respect for...
