The review is of our experience with their event space and catering.
Reservation: We were planning hosting a kids party there and from the get-go the owner was very prompt and responsive about our inquiries and sending multiple quotes as required. You get a discount on the space rent if you also cater food from them (based on their good food reviewers that was a no-brainer choice).
Event space: The room is right next to the restaurant dining space (entrance is through main dining space). It was spacious enough for our party of ~ 40 people, which included kids that preferred running around ! I think it can comfortably fit a party of about 50 adults without any problems.
Restroom: There was a single unisex restroom for the place. It was clean and well stocked, but my only complaint was that it didn't have a changing table, which frankly is a common staple in almost all public places nowadays.
Food: We decided to go largely with a South Indian menu. All non-veg items were Halal, a piece of information that few of my guests with dietary restrictions appreciated.
Appetizer: Daal vada -- Spicy and really good Chicken 65 -- Delicious ! I won't hesitate to order this again (yes we will visit this place again to enjoy the food without the stress of arranging the party hanging over our head) Gobi Manchurian -- Delicous again ! Dare I say I liked this more than the Chicken 65. My vegetarian guests were very pleased. Tomato soup -- It was really good and was served in a beautiful clay pot, which I think added to the experience.
Main course Dosa --The highlight of the meal hands down was the Live Dosa station ! The cook made hot dosa on demand with toppings of your choice (which included variety of mild to really hot options). People couldn't have enough of this stuff ! A great choice for any party ! Medu vada -- This was bit of a downer. They were really greasy and appeared to be re-fried. They were largely left untouched, which was a bummer coz I generally like this dish. Sambar -- This was ok. Not great, not bad, just ok. It was mild in taste, which I guess some people prefer. Idli -- These were good. If it weren't for the hot dosas, I would have gobbled these down Chutneys -- Both the appetizers and the main course had 2 chutneys to go with -- One was spicier one made of gram flour and the other was a milder coconut chutney. They were both good and went really well with the food in general.
For dessert we had the birthday cake we bought, which they were kind enough to take off our hands and cut up in serving size pieces for the guests.
Overall, the staff was very attentive, accommodating, polite and friendly people to interact with. I would recommend this venue to anyone looking for options to hold...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Godavari in Woburn, and I must say it was a delightful experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a welcoming ambiance.
The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, with a modern yet traditional touch that creates a comfortable atmosphere. The seating arrangements are spacious, allowing for a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience.
Now let's talk about the food. The menu at Godavari offers a wide variety of authentic South Indian dishes, and I was impressed with the range of options available. Whether you're a vegetarian or a non-vegetarian, there's something for everyone here.
I started with some appetizers, including the crispy samosas and the flavorful dosas. The samosas were perfectly crispy on the outside and filled with a delicious potato and pea mixture. The dosas were thin, crispy, and served with an assortment of chutneys that complemented the flavors wonderfully.
For the main course, I tried their biryanis, and I must say they were exceptional. The flavors were well-balanced and every bite was a delight.
The service at Godavari was attentive and friendly throughout my visit. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu and offered helpful suggestions when I had trouble deciding. The food arrived promptly, and I appreciated their attention to detail.
In conclusion, I highly recommend Godavari in Woburn to anyone looking for a fantastic South Indian dining experience. The restaurant offers delicious food, a pleasant ambiance, and excellent service. Whether you're a fan of South Indian cuisine or want to explore new flavors, Godavari is definitely worth a visit. But the taste of Sambhar is very tangy which I...
Read more**Please read this before wasting your money here!! I wish, I could rate 0 out of 5!!! I have been dining here for past 3 years and might have rated 4/5, couple of times in the past but recently (in past 6-7 months) the quality of the food & service there has downgraded significantly! We a group of 5 people, went for a buffet lunch recently and sharing experience from that! They barely had any non-veg variety though they charge for non-veg buffet! They had just 3-4 chicken dishes, nothing else! The quality & taste of food was way below standard! For instances; chicken tandoori was not really cooked well - chicken pieces had raw blood on it or spice/herb coating was not cooked, Chicken Biriyani was so cold that it seemed to us, it has just been taken out of refrigerator recently!!! 70-80% of the buffet spread was empty most of the time & hardly getting refilled when the restaurant was not even 50% filled of its capacity ! So, you can easily figure out the quality of service!! Now, here comes the most interesting & shocking part of the whole “journey”! They charge 18% as service charge for buffet which was never ever mentioned before! We had called them up before going for lunch and they had clearly mentioned that whatever price is all inclusive taxes!! However, while paying the final bill, to our surprise, we came to know that they bill extra 18% services charges on top of the buffet price for a group of more than 4 people so as we were 5 so we had to pay that piece and trust me for that money it’s not at all worth!! So, I would request you to think twice before dine in there or you might end up getting really frustrated...
