Disappointing Experience at Agave & Rye Cleveland Eton.
I had high hopes for Agave & Rye Eton, but unfortunately, my experience was far from what I expected. From the moment I arrived, things went downhill. We were there for a birthday dinner. The host who seated us was the best part of the night. From the slow service, rude staff, cold food, timeliness issues, and more, this experience left a lot to be desired. When we arrived at 7:15pm, although they were not crowded, we were told they needed to get the table together. We were seated at 7:36pm. The table was not set. Our waitress did not come by until 8:00pm to take drink orders. The drinks came at 8:11pm which is when the appetizer order was taken. The apps eventually came. The queso was not melted and the elote was over cooked. Our waitress kept disappearing, never checked on the table and we needed to continue to make requests from a nearby waiter. We had no water, no silverware or napkins. Eventually, we had to make a request for our waitress to come to the table so we could place our food order, since she hadn't returned. We ended up canceling our food order around 9:30pm when we hadn't heard a peep. The young lady who did receive her food received it cold. They also replaced her waffle fries with regular fries. When she questioned it, she was told they had been out of waffle fries for three days. Most of the party canceled their order at this point. One person ordered a double tequila and was charged $26.00. To say the experience was underwhelming does not begin to touch how disappointed I was. With this being my first time, it was definitely not what I imagined, from the slow service, cold food and incorrect orders. I understand that mistakes happen, but when concerns were raised, the staffs response or lack of response left me feeling unvalued as a customer.I left feeling dissatisfied and definitely will not return. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously, as there is definitely room for improvement in both service...
Read moreLong wait for carry out with a restaurant that was no where near full, Additional info from 2nd visit. Again long wait time for a place that wasn’t busy at all. This time, the food was so salty that it would have made my blood pressure skyrocket. I couldn’t even eat it. Called manager, at least I got a gift card out of the incident. I’m going to lower their star from 5 to 2.Update, 3rd time, food was EXCELLENT!! 5 stars!!! Food was ready when expected…additionally after another visit, FOOD WAS EXCELLENT!! I think maybe they have gotten their act together..UPDATE, after 3 other trips here, they seemed to have redeemed themselves, food was excellent and was ready when I arrived. UPDATE TO THE UPDATE.. Again, this place is on point with the food. Had a couple of friends from out of town that wanted some tacos. Of course I recommended Agave & Rye. Food was excellent and this time, the manager greeted me personally, great touch. I wish I could give them 1k stars..UPDATE, IF YOU ORDER ONLINE ON THE WEEKEND YOU MAY NOT GET YOUR FOOD. If you can see from my other reviews of this place, I thought they were upping their game, but it seems as if you order online on the weekend, it’s hit or miss if you get your order. Ordered a smashburger around 3:45, ordering said it would be ready around 4:05. I walked in & was told by a kinda rude waitress that was leaving that it’s going to be a ten minute wait, I said I didn’t mind & was told that it didn’t make any sense for me to stand if I had to wait that long. 5 minutes later was told the problem was they had ran out of ground beef and had to buy some more. Guess they went to Whole Foods and got some but was also told that they were extremely busy. I’ve worked in restaurants before and they were a long, long, long way from busy. I told her it’s was ok & I would wait. After waiting another 10-15 minutes was told that it would still be another 10 minutes wait. I think I’m done with this place & I may need to travel to the downtown location just to get...
Read moreI love the decor of this place. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The food has great varieties and different choices. It's quite a fun place to hang out with the fun ambience. The food itself was OK. I was looking forward to the grilled cauliflower sauce on the side, but I guess there's so much sauce that has a white sauce that came on the side. The barbecue sauce is all over it and lots and lots of breading, I felt like there was more Wet breading on the cauliflower than there was cauliflower. Probably one of the worst baked cauliflower I've ever had. The brussels sprouts were OK but again way too much sauce and I actually had the sauce on the side so I'm not sure how much sauce would've come if I hadn't gotten sauce on the side a lot of the items are sweetened. If I'm going to have sugar, I want to have it as a dessert, not in my main dish. And of course occasionally it's not bad like candy, bacon or something like that but if you have candy bacon, you don't need to add additional sweetener on top of it. I also found most of the items to be extremely salty. I'd say if they could cut back on the salt and sugar and extra breading. A lot of the food items would've been pretty tasty. My son who really loves Mexican more than I do did not finish either of his tacos. I do love the whole interior design, though the design and the people they make me want to go. They just need to make better food less salt and less sugar would be a start. I like the different combinations, but let's make it a...
