This has to be one of the more stingy restaurants I’ve ever visited. The number of times I’ve had to say, ā€œcan I please get more?ā€ is a little strange. The ratio that they give you in carbohydrates compared to protein is kind of ridiculous. You’ll be paying like 10 to 12 bucks for a meal and 90% of it. It’s just rice or noodles. I ordered a kids bowl and the worker put three meatballs on and when it got to the end of the line his manager told him to take a meatball off of the bowl. What is the deal with that? You all know very well that people want protein. That’s what they’re paying for. If I pay seven dollars for a kids meal to get two little meatballs, and a whole bunch of rice, then you asked me to give you a tip at the end of that just for putting rice into a bowl for me, doesn’t that seem stingy? Yes, it is stingy. Very very stingy. Aside from that, there’s a wide array of vegetables, and options that a customer can see through the glass. But does the worker ask you what you would like on top of your bowl? Yes, but only two or three things. It’s as though everything else is not an option for you. I remember asking ā€œcan I please get some broccoli?ā€ The worker acted like I was asking for an arm and a leg. And they put one little piece of broccoli in the bowl. I was once charged like four dollars or something for some shredded cucumbers. I’ve been to this place a lot of times, so this is a regular occurrence for me. I just like the food I go there for the food. I can’t get it anywhere else. But I sure wish they...

I have been coming to Zao since they opened. I’ve been to the one in Salt Lake and one in Farmington Several times over the years. When I first went to Bountiful location, it was good, good not as fresh as the others, but they served you a decent amount. I just went to one in Bountiful today. It was the worst, smallest serving of food I have ever received at a restaurant . I ordered the bowl. They’re barely put in 1/2 cup of rice. Like a tablespoon? if that, of the other ingredients. In the past the food was above the bowl and would hit the lid when they covered it. I felt cheated and will never go there again. Maybe that’s why there is never a line there. It used to be real busy. But it is not worth the money now. I would suggest you drive to Farmington or Salt lake just to get a decent serving? What happened here in Boy tofu location? I took photos so the owner could see, but I don’t see a place to...

I love Zao! I eat here more than any other chain, but today was not the best experience I’ve had. In fact, probably one of the worst time I’ve had eating here and it makes me pretty sad. It wasn’t busy, there were two other people in front of me. I asked for two bowls with noodles and rice, said meatballs and chicken but somehow they heard tofu? Then after remaking the bowls up to this point I had to repeat myself three more times because they couldn't understand English too well. They didn’t know what super sauce was, they had to ask me the same question at least two times while moving me through the non existent line at this point. I totally understand how confusing fast food orders can be sometimes but this was unacceptable. And after all the hassle, I drive 15 minutes home just to realize they only gave me two pieces of broccoli in my whole bowl 😭 I’m...

10/10/22 Kids meals aren't entirely free on Mondays. They only take off a percentage of the $4.95. We bought three adult meals, and thought we would get three kids meals free, but nope! The company should be honest in advertising. Also, you don't realize that Yakisoba noodles are $1.25 extra until you see the receipt (and you have to ask for one to see the charges). That should be more clear too. PROOF: that you don't need to be a privately owned single restaurant to make excellent food. This Utah chain is doing great on all fronts: theme, decor, food, and service. I have tried everything on the menu, and it all tastes fresh, perfectly cooked, and the sauces and broth create delicious Asian flavors. I also highly recommend their unique drinks, which are unique and a refreshing alternative to soda.

We recently discovered ZAO Asian Cafe and were thrilled when we learned one was coming to Bountiful. We have been blown away every time we go. The food is fresh, healthy, DELICIOUS and packed so full of flavor. When you go, you can ask to try all the sauces before you have to decide. We still do this to see what we are in the mood for :) Their homemade lemonades are very fresh and delicious as well. The portions are large, the price is spot on (I feel like I am getting a great deal), and we have been exceptionally pleased every time we come. We can't wait to visit this new location regularly!!! #zaoasiancafe #lfthx

The food is super tasty.... Not bland like other places that claim to be ethnic. The chicken pork meatballs are really REALLY good. The yakisoba is cooked to perfection, not over, not under. The agua frescas are not too sweet and not too meh. Try them all, each is a really nice discovery. The curry sauce was good, mild ... The other curry had cilantro, and well, cilantro: take it or leave it. I left it. I'm genetically predisposed to hate cilantro. 🤪... The team serving us was very nice, helpful and attentive.... And a really good value. 17.00 for two . Surprised given that this is a chain restaurant.
