Review of Giardino’s – 4.5/5 Stars
I’ve had the pleasure of dining at Giardino’s in West Yarmouth, Massachusetts, about five times now, and I can confidently say that this Italian gem consistently delivers a delightful experience. While my teenage kids find the pizza to be just average (still good, mind you), I believe the overall food quality is happily above expectations!
One standout dish for me was the stuffed pepper soup. I had never tried it before, and it was a remarkable surprise! The flavors were rich and comforting, and I can’t wait to order it again on my next visit. The chicken parmigiana was another highlight; it was perfectly sauced and, unlike many places, didn’t have the typical acidity that can sometimes ruin the experience for me. This is a dish I’ll definitely keep coming back for.
As for the baked ziti, it features a creamy sauce that leans heavily toward cheesy goodness rather than a traditional tomato sauce. This may come down to personal preference, but I found it to be a a slightly different twist. The garlic bread was soft, but still crispy in all the right parts - another highlight of a fairly basic Italian staple.
On a recent Sunday visit, the place was packed, primarily because the Patriots were playing. It was heartwarming to see the local crowd, mostly over fifty, creating a supportive and surprisingly respectful atmosphere for what could easily have been a raucous sports bar vibe. I truly appreciate that Giardino’s strikes a perfect balance—plenty of TVs to catch the game without the unbearable noise that often accompanies sports venues. Just a heads up for other team fans: during Patriots games, all TVs will be tuned to the game, so plan accordingly!
Overall, I highly recommend Giardino’s for anyone looking for a solid Italian meal in a welcoming environment. I’m looking forward to...
Read moreHave been going to this restaurant for years. I asked the owners recently about the smell from the smoking deck outside that once in a while seeps into the restaurant when the door to the deck opens. They told me they are working on correcting this issue and is be taken care of as we speak. Since we moved we have a long drive from our home to Giardino's but it is the only place we will ever eat pizza from. We have tried pizza from just about everywhere there is. (yes, they only serve small pizza's but the best) Sometimes when I see a not so good review I feel the need to respond because we have been going to this restaurant for many years and I doubt they would still be around if the food wasn't good. Over the years we have tried many different dishes on the menu and can honestly say we have never had a bad meal. It is a local neighborhood family restaurant & sports bar and have met great people at the bar. It is all personal preference. Maybe the restaurant could use a facelift but on the other hand we really like it as it is, not a fancy place. We go out to eat a lot and some of the worst food we have had happens to have been at restaurants where the reviews and decor are really good so you would expect the food would be the same but usually not the case. I am not sure where many reviews actually come from or who is writing them and for that reason I have become skeptical of reviews and no longer pay much...
Read moreSince 2020, the pandemic's gales have scoured the land and its eateries like a fierce nor'easter. And tragically, some eateries and even people, have succumbed. Often, local culinary landmarks that endured (such as Giardino's) have been forced to scramble staff, menus and price. And too often, to quote Hamlet: "What a falling off there has been!" But not so here. With pluckiness and pride, Giardino's has maintained its signature coziness and quality. Settling into a comfy plexiglass-protected booth recently, my wife and I were met by a slightly harried server; she explained as the only one on, our patience would be appreciated. Hey, sure; we hadn't trekked to this veritable epicenter of Italian-American scrumptousness, quenching libations and KENO (a numbers betting exercise for those so inclined) to vamoose! And before you'd finish bellowing, "O Sole Mio," (completely optional) a tall Chianti and Apple Martini adorned our table. ('Twas but lunch - but we'd had some good news that day.) And the hefty New England Scrod Dinner and Cheese Raviolis with Meatballs smothered in a robust sauce embodied the best of the New and Old Worlds. (And did I mention an ample House Salad and thick Clam Chowder? Like at Nonna's cottage. And her Limoncello Cake and Bread Pudding rounded out a splendid visit. Ah, some places just wear their struggles well - and revere their guests. And nowadays, that's no...
