The people working there are nice. But frankly I don’t know how this place has so many good reviews. The food we had was pretty boring and bland. And the bread quite dry. We had eggs Benedict and avocado cream cheese toast. If you ignore the bread, the food is edible. But nothing to write home about. Just being frank.
Review Edit:
Quite surprised to see the establishment respond with such an insulting message. As a customer, it is our right to state how our experience was. As an establishment, if you cannot take the critique, you shouldn’t be doing business. Unbelievable that instead of taking note in the fact that the bread we had was dry as could be and that the food we had was bland as ever, you choose to make a personal attack against us for not “acknowledging” the positive reviews. What a child. My review is mine to give. I don’t have to state anything else. You should really learn how to run a business without letting your ego get personal with customers.
I’ve actually lived in Hanoi 7 years. And I’ve always left good reviews for restaurants that deserved it. Yours, unfortunately, didn’t. And now I’m convinced even more after that pathetic response.
For reference - the response from the restaurant :
“Hello, we appreciate your time writing your opinion here. However, we believe tastes truly vary for each person's preferences. Thus, you could also acknowledge that the majority of our visitors appreciated and enjoyed our foods eventually, nevertheless you shall personally not. We hope our explanation and honest response clear things out. Have a wonderful...
Read moreWent here for a quick brunch on Saturday morning. It’s located in a small alley in the old quarter that sees little traffic. The building itself is very nice and newly renovated. It does sit across from a building that is under construction, so keep that in mind.
My wife and I sat on the upstairs balcony and it was a nice spot to spend the morning. I will say that the interior on the second floor does get quite full. This is mostly because the main floor is very cramped with the line out the door. Additionally the smell from the fryer is quite off putting as the hood does not ventilate very well.
The food was quite good. They have a very solid western menu with wonderful prices. Their combo deal is some of the best priced western food in the city. She got the American breakfast combo with popcorn chicken and a coffee. Overall good. Could have used a touch more syrup and butter as the waffle was dry and tasteless. They also do not use any seasoning on the eggs.
I got the Cheeto croissant, fries, and mango cold brew. The sandwich was very large and the breading was crunchy. Although the sandwich did lack the flavor of Cheetos. The sriracha mayo they use is excellent. Fries were cooked well and seasoned. Finally was the cold brew. The coffee quality wasn’t the best and it could have used a dash of mango syrup as the mangoes themselves were not strong enough to imbue the flavor.
Overall it’s a good spot and I would...
Read moreWe traveled from the other end of the city to Briques, lured by its Instagram-worthy photos. Upon arrival, we were greeted with polite staff who spoke English. We were craving soup and were recommended the ramen on the menu. We agreed and ordered three, making it clear we wanted soup. However, instead of soup, we received fried noodles with cheap sausages and eggs in a spicy sauce. When we asked if we could get broth for the noodles, the waitress in pajamas promised to check with the chef. The chef arrived and insisted that the dish is served without broth and refused to cook some for us. We left the restaurant without eating as the food was spicy and tasted cheap. We don’t understand what was considered inappropriate behavior. We are not disrespectful for not wanting to eat unappetizing spicy food.
This message you sent in response is yet another demonstration of your low-quality service and extremely rude attitude towards customers. I insist that instant noodles, a sausage, and an egg are not ramen. Please provide evidence of any inappropriate behavior on our part, but I assure you there is none. We simply left, disappointed with the service, food, and the...
