Honestly reading the other reviews here I am wondering if I got lucky or… I’m not sure what to think.
I turned up alone, and I’m an entirely un-intimidating, and obvious, tourist. I was seated inside and enjoying their other offerings and I was approached and asked if I wanted happy hour drinks. I could not for the life of me hear the guy over the music and gestured to move away to somewhere quieter. The gentleman was polite and patient and I didn’t feel pressured into buying drinks. Honestly I’ve felt soft-pressed elsewhere in Vietnam to the point where I felt like I was going to snap at some old Vietnamese woman - this didn’t feel anything close to that. I asked how much for a Long Island Ice Tea and he says “150k dong, two for one” so I’m like yeah alright.
I read in other reviews people were put off by having to pay upfront for drinks etc. Are you insane? I only want to pay upfront, then there is no room for a dispute of the costs. He says 150k, I give him 160k, dead simple. I return to my table and a couple of minutes later he brings me my two LIIT and 10k dong in change. Were the drinks a high standard of LIIT? Nah, but look at the type of venue. Did they have alcohol in them? Yeah they sure did. Were they a little watered down, a little small and a little overpriced? Probably but I’ve felt like the LIIT’s at far more upmarket places in Vietnam were also a little watered down and a little small, it just seems to be how it is and I’m not going to try dispute what I can’t prove in a foreign country - what’s that going to get you? Nothing. I tried it in luxury hotels, they don’t give a huh. Welcome to Vietnam. Whatever. I came to Tiger Tiger cause I had nfi what I was doing or where I was exactly so I figured a tourist bar would be safe and easy to navigate and it was. None of that b.s. where they just talk to you in Vietnamese and seem confused and awkward when you don’t understand them. I’ve had that in luxury stays here so the bar is really quite low. Didn’t get any of that at Tiger Tiger, clear english and short simple exchanges. For that I gotta give them credit because on average the English in Vietnam is bad even in tourist areas and at 4 star hotels.
I gotta be honest though, the music absolutely sucked. Sorry. But it’s like ABBA mixed with Miley Cyrus’s Party in the USA mixed with Rhianna’s Umbrella and just the most godawful, dated, normie music possible and at a super loud volume of course. I want to say I don’t know who that stuff appeals to but we have normie bars/clubs like this in Canberra, Australia too so basic tastes might enjoy it.
I dunno, I like a bargain, I know all this stuff can be found for dirt cheap elsewhere in Vietnam and that some tourist places will be more expensive than elsewhere - I feel like I knew what I was getting into before I got to Tiger Tiger.
Can’t fault them but I can’t go back cause I know the music is always gonna be terrible. Probably the rest of the white people there liked it though, there sure was enough of them.
edit I want to add I didn’t use the bathroom or see the sign about not trusting the random guys outside/nearby for bike rides. I always intended to use Grab but couldn’t for reasons not worth mentioning so I resorted to one of these guys. Incredibly I did not get scammed/robbed despite some signs I might (driver quoted 25k for the ride but refused upfront payment with a random reason given). He actually lowered the price to 20k when we got to my destination. I think, for reasons I also will not get into, he figured from a conversation we had on the ride back that he could get more money off me other ways on another night.
Also the blogspam website that I found Tiger Tiger via actually describes this place as a “backpacker bar” so that also should lend itself to having very low expectations. Backpackers...

We mistakenly walked into this bar without checking the reviews first. We were told outside that the cocktails were buy 1 get 2 free so we followed the waiter upstairs. When the waitress upstairs took our order she told us it was not buy 1 get 2 free cocktails - I asked if she could clarify this with the man downstairs but she was very rude and told us to leave and go and speak to him myself.
After leaving our table and speaking with the waiter downstairs, he confirmed the buy 1 get 2 free deal was correct, took us back to our table and informed the waitress.
The waitress made us feel very uncomfortable and didn’t bother taking our order for at least a further 15 minutes. We had been in the bar over half an hour at this point without even ordering.
When she finally came to take our order she made us pay up front before we received anything, probably because they know customers would refuse to pay after tasting their awful drinks!
When our drinks finally came, they were considerably smaller than all of the other cocktails we could see on other tables and tasted purely of juice. We questioned the bar if the drinks had alcohol in and were told ‘this is what you get if you order buy 1 get 2 free’. If this is the happy hour deal I expect to get the same quality of drink as if I had just bought one but clearly this is not the case. The bar man did actually pour some more vodka into our glasses, however we still tasted NO alcohol so I believe their Smirnoff bottle was probably just filled with water…
Save your money and avoid this bar...

This place is an absolute scam. The promoters at the front of the bar try to lure you in with happy hour deals that they never go through with. The first time we went there ordered two for one cocktails and a beer and they put the two cocktails on the bill. After questioning it, they played dumb and took it off the bill on the spot. On a separate night we went again with some friends as they wanted to check it out. Our friends ordered three cocktails and were never given their buy one get one free drinks. We questioned the waiter who became very aggressive and tried to turn all the other waiters against us. After that I was very scared to order drinks from any of the waiters in case of getting spiked, and instead went to the bar, checked that they would commit to the buy one get one free deal, and watch them pour my drinks on the spot.
This place is dirty, rude waiters, dangerous bikies waiting at the front of the bar trying to rip you off to get home, and people on...
