It’s definitely not worth it. Some yourself some money. Their French toast looked amazing so we wanted to try it for breakfast. My partner ordered his mussels etc and I ordered French toast. The waitress was very persistent that my French toast is a dessert so they’ll bring it in the end. We had to tell them we want all at the same time several times, but nothing came at the same time…
They first brought my French toast. It looked amazing, but it was quite disappointing. The toast was not really toasted and they so much cream. I could t even eat half, but that was still too much. I hope I won’t end up with diabetes lol. They brought two spoons and a knife for my toast. My partner was like it must be so soft that it’ll melt that why they brought you spoons. That was so funny. It was so hard. Idk why they didn’t give me any forks and I had to ask.
Then they brought my partner’s food one by one. He had to have his chips on it’s own instead of a side, I really felt sorry for him 🤣
We then asked for the bill. The waiter told us we can pay at the till with the credit card. We were getting ready to leave and they brought my partner’s last food! We had already forgotten it. We spent around 1hr there so that’s how long it took them to bring some fried oysters. Mind you, we told them to bring all at the same time. They had the cheek to charge us with sth we haven’t eaten as well. Disgraceful. We would’ve realised it when we checked the bill, but they shouldn’t be really doing this.
They brought all the cutlery with some napkins. But the moment we picked up the cutlery, someone picked up the napkins so we were left with nothing. When I asked them for some later, they gave me a weird look like im asking for some magical items. I picked up one of the napkins to use and left the rest as I didn’t need. The waiter kept coming around to ask if im not gonna use them. 🤣🤣🤣
I use Monzo for international transactions and it needs to be topped up regularly (in case it gets stolen). My card got declined as I didn’t have enough in it. The machine is in Vietnamese for I didn’t understand, common sense says it said no sufficient funds. So I had to top it up, but all staff started laughing. I find this quite rude and disrespectful.
Update: After reading other reviews, I’ve just checked the bill and realised that I’ve been charged for the napkin I requested. They took one back as well because I didn’t use it, but still charged me with two. They’ve got no shame. It’s not even in the menu lol. I would’ve argued if I realised but unfortunately, no one speaks good enough English so I would’ve probably gotten even more annoyed. I’m changing my 2 star to 1 star. I wish I...
Read moreI used to love Poulet and we are frequent customers of their Saigon Center branch.
The environment is very conducive for having a good meal and conversation, may it be with your friends or your family. The price is quite good too, especially when they had the combo of appetizer + mains + dessert - that was really of good value for money. Anyway, even without those combo, I would say that the price is still okay.
However, during our recent visit, I can’t help but notice some things that I think needs attention from the management for future improvement. Here are my points:
Initially, I decided to order the Oxtail Tomato Cream Risotto (I usually order the mushroom one) because I would like to have some good meat and tomato that day. I know its spicy, as the menu showed the chili icon. The server said “its spicy” and I asked further, “how spicy?” She smirked and said “i dont care.” And she continued telling me about other options that are not spicy. At the time, Im not feeling well, so to avoid arguments, I just said that I’ll try the seabass risotto. 🤷🏻♀️
It would be better if the staff would be re-trained to have better word choice to convey options and have a more customer-centered service. (Example, they can ask customer if they prefer spicy or not spicy, then based on the answer they can provided suggestions). This is to avoid miscommunication and incorrect approach towards customers (especially those who are hungry and having a bad day).
Seabass Risotto: I was under the impression that it would at least be crispy skinned, as the plating suggested because the skin is on top. Disappointed, I proceeded to go through the risotto, and it was sooo bland. Idk if it was intentional just to be safe for the customer’s taste, but, there’s no salt/pepper available on the table that customers can use to adjust to their taste. The seabass could also use some lemon to it to lessen the “fishyness”.
Anyway, the experience could be a lot better and I truly believe that Poulet will listen to feedback and improve. We will still continue to go and eat there and looking forward to a better customer service. It could have been just...
Read moreVisited this location for dinner and was quite surprised by its high 4.7-star rating.
I had previously dined at the Poulet branch in Singapore at Vivocity, which I thoroughly enjoyed, so I made it a point to visit this one in HCM. Unfortunately, the experience here fell short in both taste and presentation.
We ordered the angel hair shrimp pasta, quarter chicken with bacon, sea bass risotto, mushroom soup, and French fries. Surprisingly, the fries and mushroom soup were the best part of the meal, but I'm not sure that's a good sign. The pasta was overly oily with a spicy kick but lacked depth in flavor. The sea bass had soggy skin, unlike the crispy version shown in their menu photo. As for the chicken, arguably the restaurant’s signature, it was disappointing. The meat and gravy were bland, and the bacon barely made an appearance (about 20% of what the menu image showed).
Service was friendly but only average. Staff couldn’t accommodate basic adjustments to our order, couldn’t reposition the cold air blowing directly on us, and mistakenly brought regular instead of sparkling water.
Overall, this was not the same Poulet experience I had in Singapore. There are definitely areas that need improvement if this outlet wants to thrive, perhaps this is why the Hung Vuong Plaza branch closed just...
