The Story Bridge Adventure Climb Experience ROCKED! I never thought I would do this. It wasnât even on my radar to do. I climb real mountains, never steel ones. It was interesting though, my first day in Brisbane I walked a loop around the river and ended up at an awesome Italian Food Festival at Howard Smith Wharves. I walked the board walk and kept taking pictures of the Story Bridge. As I was doing so, I kept noticing people on the top of it and would stop to watch them climb up and over. Honestly still not thinking a thing of it. YET for some unknown reason I was working the next morning on my computer and have literally no idea why, but looked it up. I found The Story Bridge Adventure Climb Experience and remembered a friend who lived here for a month told me about it but said he was too chicken to do it. I randomly checked tickets and there was an available ticket for 3pm. I just said yes! AND yayyyy for me. It was an amazing experience. The people in my small group...2 brothers where 1 brother surprised the other, and 2 sisters where 1 sister surprised the otherâŠI meanâŠwhat?! Why was I there?!? Haha. I love it. They were awesome and GEMMA was AMAZING!!! So much energy and positivity and she just took us through everything with complete ease and grace. She is a fabulous story teller and was caring for us while training a new colleagueâŠwhich was cool to watch. They all take our safety and the safety of every user of the bridge very seriously. The pace is easy to keep up with and the experience is unique and fun and worth the views. I meanâŠwhy not climb a mountain made of local Australian steel that is the symbol of Brisbane and is the largest steel bridge designed, fabricated and constructed in Australia by Australians. Not to mention this Story Bridge Climb is one of only three bridges you can climb in the world.  Interestingly, all three bridges just happen to be âDown Underâ in Australia and New Zealand. The three are the Brisbane Story Bridge, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and the Auckland Harbour Bridge. So seriously, why...
Read moreHad a great bridge climb with guide Jasper. Entire time we were together was chill yet thrilling. Top-notch equipment, solid safety briefing, group size limited to 14 (we had 13), and lots of time to just be in the moment and enjoy Brisbane as the city lights came on.
Different than Sydney as they donât use headphones to communicate during the climb which meant if we had questions or Jasper had info we needed to speak directly to him. In Sydney our guide was able to share history of the bridge and Sydney as we climbed while in Brisbane it was delivered at the top. Both are great experiences and Iâd do both again. Jasper took great photos several times along our climb, as well as a group photo towards the end. The group shots are included as a part of your climb (Sydney doesnât). Thatâs a great perk here. And, you also get to keep the hat! đ
Meeting point is below the bridge. You complete the health waiver, go inside and suit up. Lockers available to stash everything you canât take with you (bag, camera, phone, watch, extra clothes). Bathrooms across the street. Then the group takes the elevator up to the road deck and begins the gentle walk up the bridge. Itâs really stress-free and easy. The day we went theyâd had their first successful wheelchair climb (in a special sort of stair climbing chair) which is awesome theyâre making the climb accessible to more people. We sang Happy Birthday to one climber (age 75) so donât let your age or fears keep you home. This was a really fun thing to do and Jasper is a great guide with lots of patience and...

The only reason this review is getting 2 stars is because our guide was an absolute legend! Mike was so lovely and made the climb a delight.
We had booked in advance for a twilight climb, and on the morning of it was absolutely horrible. The rain was so heavy, I feel sorry for the people that had to climb earlier that day đ«€ so I rang and tried to reschedule to another day as we were super excited to see the sun set which was obviously not going to happen if it was pouring (we didnât get to see the sunset as the weather by the afternoon wasnât much better).
I was told on the phone that there was absolutely no chance of rescheduling unless lightning or serve weather ( I called around 9am, our climb wasnât till 4:20pm ) I am pretty disappointed about the whole thing as there is no clause on the website or ticket disclosing this. I did email about this after the phone call and doing a little investigating further on their website, but was to no avail, and I never received an answer back.
They need to update this issue, and give lenience when the weather is like this as it felt like they didnât care about our feelings. And I did feel forced into climbing that day to not loose this time with my partner. Not to mention they didnât check to see if we felt safe with their decision after spending quite a bit of money. And no I donât think climbing in the rain or just after is overly safe personally.
So be warned that unless your a weather fortune teller maybe buy a voucher and ring day of so u know that u will have a...
