Decided to test our luck and walk in for dinner and after a short wait we got our table. We were guided to our seats, then our playful banter with the waitstaff began! Massive shout out to Katherine who served us and helped provide advice on wine/ menu options! Thankyou for being so responsive and engaging!! Moving on, before we got too involved in our conversation, we ordered drinks (double parked, always). We enjoyed a refreshing cocktail, Jake got himself a white wine, (Jim Barry The Atherly' Riesling) while I myself got the red đ· (Tomfoolery Grenache) Not long after, our appetisers came. We shared the deliciously seasoned Monkey Loaf that has a lovely lightly herbed taste and oh so fluffy! The Mushroom Arancini was also delicious and had me watering for more bites! Mains came not long after, the cycle of clearing our plates became an exciting experience knowing the next course was approaching! We were in heaven when we dived our forks into the Vodka Rigatoni; the sauce was so comforting yet had a zing and sweetness about it, yum yum yum! The bread bowl it was served in was also super yummy, however we had feasted so much, it could not be conquered. Before long we were teased by another member of staff with the tiramisu! Now we all know thereâs always room for dessert, so we absolutely got a slice! It finished off the meal well, creamy, sweet with all the familiar flavours you come to know with a tiramisu, so much so I joked to Katherine my classic line of; âif this table had a cloth, Iâd be gripping it!â. She threw her head back and laughed as we finished off the final bites and shared pleasantries. Overall, a very scintillating evening full of flavours, laughter and delight! Would highly recommend this place as you get all the fine dining experience with a lot of joy and interaction with the waitstaff; all smiles and...
Read moreWe had dinner at Alba last night and while the food itself was actually really good, the service from one particular staff member completely ruined our night.
We were a group of friends in our 30s, just wanting to enjoy a nice dinner togetherâbut instead, we felt like we were being rushed and pushed out the door from the moment we sat down. The lady kept coming back to our table, literally 10 times, reminding us that they badly needed the table at 8:15pm. We get it. Weâre not kids. Weâre grown, educated adults who fully understand the 2-hour dining limit. Itâs common in most restaurants, and we were told from the start, which was fine.
But why were we the only table being approached and reminded over and over again? It honestly started to feel discriminatory. Why keep pestering us specifically when we already acknowledged the time? We understood. You donât need to treat us like weâre illiterate.
It got even more frustrating when I had to wait 30 minutes for my main meal, only to find out it wasnât even sent to the kitchen. The same lady admitted it was her fault! And by the time my food arrived, I couldnât even enjoy it properly because I was already feeling anxious and uncomfortable from being rushed nonstop.
We still had 15 minutes left before 8:15, and I was still eatingâmy plate was still half fullâand she came up again asking, âAre you finished?â Like seriously? Can I at least finish the food I paid for?
This is absolutely not the kind of service we expected from a place like Alba. Thankfully, one of the male staff members was kind enough to help us get a table outside when he saw how uncomfortable we were. He was the only one who treated us decently.
We came for a good meal and good company, but left feeling disrespected and judged. Do...
Read moreWe had a large family group of 18 for lunch at Alba last Sunday â and every one of us was impressed and satisfied. On a hot day the restaurant was cool and relaxed, spacious. Great 360-degree view and drenched in natural sunlight and brightness (but youâre not in the sun, nor is it in your eyes!).
Guiseppe was looking after us - possibly the best service weâve ever had in a Perth restaurant!! Nothing was too much trouble, changing our table configuration to tweaking our tasting menu. Our table ranged age 6 to 76 and he conversed with everyone and boy did he hold court - very charming and entertaining - then switching back into professional mode, full bottle on the menu and wine list. The grandmothers adored him!
Then, the foodâŠ!! it was fresh and full of flavour (and colour!) - original and delicious â the pastas dishes were both magic. We all had the âTasting Menuâ - even the (somewhat fussy) kids ate that and loved it (there is a kid's menu available to order from too). Heaps of food, hearty. Finished feeling nice full - but not overfull. Standouts were the porchetta, and the spinach orecchiette with lamb ragu (pictured). Compliments to chef adding two impromptu tomahawk steaks with no notice, for the boys!
Fab wine list and the mocktails and cocktails fresh and original. We were able to take our drinks out to the other beer garden bar area (where there is a kids playground).
Our annual lunch was declared the best weâve had in the last five yearsâ try to book when Guiseppe is working â he was the icing for us! Our long table lunch was set up with the table to run alongside Wellington St window.. Would...
