Dymocks Chatswood — Attraction in Sydney

Decent range and friendly service. Popped in today for a newly released book and the shipment was stuck in transit - said it might be in for the weekend, but no guarantees. The website said the book was available for click and collect at this location (which I took to mean stock on hand) but it's apparently just "you could conceptually order this and collect it from this shop some day in the future" which I would have thought would apply to every book and every store.

Went home and ordered on Amazon, substantially cheaper with overnight delivery. I know it's hard for bricks and mortar to compete with the online guys but it's also hard as a customer to drive somewhere, find parking, pay more and get less.

What a horrible customer experience, I found a book I wanted on their online store but it takes 4-6 days for delivery and I have to allow another 2-4 days just in case. As this is a gift I need in a few days I asked in store locally. They don't have it in stock but "you can order it online" they said, which I already knew. So I ask, "Is it definitely in store in the city, I will travel in to get it...", "We don't know" was the response. "Can you deliver from your warehouse to a store so I can collect?" What a magical bookstore, where you receive amazing, 'next level', customer service. Today, Friday 7th March, 2025, I visited Dymocks at Chatswood Westfield to research and purchase a number of different novels. I received very detailed, enthusiastic, and pertinent advice regarding each of the novels from Lana. What a VERY cool sales assistant!!
