I could have given a 5 star because the food was fantastic and the environment was very charming. It was the service that got at least one star down, and it was because of a black waitress who was clearly having a discrimination of non-white guests. After we were taken to our table, this waitress passed by our table 4-5 times and she deliberately ignored us. Our table was not set up and she literally set up the empty table just beside us, and again, she chose not to even look at us, not alone saying hello. Finally we called her attention and asked her to set up the table and the answer was: I will set it up after you order. Excuse me? After taking our orders, she still failed to set up our table and we had to call another waiter to do it for us. And she never came to our table again to serve or ask how is everything and again, every time she passed our table, she chose to look to other direction. But she kept busy pouring water and talking with other tables which were purely white guests. I didn’t want to jump into the conclusion of discrimination but then I found out that every table had an ice bucket for drinks except us. So I talked with a guy who seemed like a manager, he apologized and began to pay attention to our table. I feel sorry for this restaurant because it is supposed to be one of the best in town. And how could they tolerate this kind of behavior? What bothered me even more is this black waitress. Of all people, she should be the last person who would discriminate against other people. I struggled a lot to leave this comment, I really would have given them 5, since the food was really good. And if the manager sees this message, you really need to talk to this waitress because her behavior was...
Read moreI wanted a quick coffee and something small after 3 hours or so at wonderful Albertina, before heading for the airport. Firstly, staff on the door completely disinterested in clients, looking at them, judging from their annoyed faces, as a major inconvenience. No order, dedicated handling of specific tables, clients constantly querying where their coffee is. My patisserie arrived after 15min, but no coffee in sight, noone taking responsibility for it. When 20min later it appeared, it was lukewarm, so clearly just sat there. Clients around me were quering things not arriving, or wrong things arriving, with staff infusing absolutely no warmth into any problem solving at all. Staff hanged out around their receipt printer, presumably trying to illicit from it some report or info their manager requested (?), choosing to ignore elderly couples arriving at the cafe, just letting them stand there for ages, not even acknowledging them, or offering them to sit down at the chairs next to this fascinating receipt printer, even if not letting them inside. How can a place so pretty, with what looked like nice food and sweets, and from what I tasted - nice coffee and patisserie, be so poortly organised and staffed? A huge let down for fab Albertina, not matching it in either quality or care. In addition, it is very expensive for what...
Read moreSpend there an evening with my family and we had to wait 15 minutes for a table, which we only got after complaining some time. Since the guest before felt way too comfortable to leave… I would suggest to leave a bigger window for guests for their „experience“ We got a glass of bubbles as a compensation where a glass was chipped. When asked they of course changed the glass, however they didn’t offer a new drink, just changed the glass and swapping the content. Wonderful if the chipped piece would have been transferred too.. nevermind after having to wait 2 small tables were being put together we finally got a table, with 3 more chipped glasses. Lots of attention to detail here and quiet Cosy sitting arrangement.
Let’s get to the food meat comes in portions of max 100 g for 26 eurs. Tastewise the food was excellent 100% amazing quality but portion wise a joke. Airplane food has bigger portions.
I don’t mind spending 400 eurs dinner for 5 with a bottle of wine, however ensure you come fed already and see it more as a bistro or a pre theater snack.
Overall a shame, since the chefs definitely know how to cook, but overall a sad experience not...
