I usually don't post negative reviews for places I don't like but this is too bad to ignore.

TLDR: TOURIST TRAP! Do. Not. Go. Here!

You arrive at this cafe expecting a high level of care and attention due to their visage as a high end cafe/restaurant. But right on arrival you're made to wait outside for more than 15 mins even though you can see lots of tables empty inside. When you finally move inside, they give you the worst 2 person table in the corner of the cafe even though there are many better options available (For context, my friend and I are Asian, but we did not think into this too much at the time). When asked if we can be relocated, they said no more tables are available which was a plain faced lie. 2 mins later, a (white) woman walks in and they assign her a table for 4 even though 2 mins back they apparently didn't even have a better table for 2.

Once we were seated, it started another 20 mins episode of being ignored by every waiter in the restaurant until finally they came to take our order. While placing the order, I asked for some tap water for the table and they hastily dismissed me saying it would come with the coffee and what actually arrived with the coffee was a 50ml glass with water which was supposed to be sufficient for the table.

The quality of food and drinks was also well below mediocre and you could tell it was prepared with less integrity than fast food rather than properly cooked freshly. For reference, we just had a ready meal from Spar earlier in the day which was miles better than this food. The only difference was that we paid about 5x more at this place than we did at Spar.

After another 10 mins of being ignored when asking for the bill when they finally arrived for the payment, they automatically added 10% tip without even asking and charged it to the card. Would not have even paid the full amount for what we got, let alone, leaving a tip for this sh*tshow.

Btw - the toilets were absolutely disgusting as well with the sink overflowing and a general lack of hygiene in there.

All in all, this was a perfect example of a tourist trap, willing to position itself as a high end must-go for curious tourists but should be avoided at all costs! DO...

BODENLOSE FRECHHEIT!

Wenn du aus Wien bist solltest du nicht mal mit Bezahlung hier essen oder dein hart erarbeitetes Geld ausgeben.

Growing up in Vienna this has been a favorite of mine & my father’s. We used to come at least once a week.

Today we decided to come eat lunch here. & it was a very different experience & quality than I am used to here. The prices are outrageous sure but I understand it’s in a touristy area & tourists are used to overpay. Me too & I still always tipped with pleasure because the staff is kind & the food is/used to be amazing.

You want quality food for a decent price or have a luxury lunch or dinner but with dishes you will remember from your trip? Go here: PLACHUTTA, TIROLERHOF, Meissl & Schaden, CAFÉ PRÜCKEL, even Cafe Landtmann (which is also owned by the same family as Cafe Mozart), everything else but this in the first district! Please if you really want to eat here just go for coffee & cake not actual food!

We ordered 1 salad with add on Shrimp, 1 iced coffee (w ice cream), 1 mineral (bottled) still water & 1 bottle of TAB WATER for the table.

The salad was 10 leaves of lettuce with a couple croutons for 17.50€. The shrimps you guys oh my god, 2 jumbo shrimp that were grilled in their shell so I had to peel it myself lol. 9€?! 9euro for 2 shrimp!

I told him you can get the check for us but deduct the shrimp please. So he said yes. I tipped them & I got my bill.

Looking at the bill as stated on the picture they charged me 3.50€ for TAP water you guys. Is this normal I don’t understand. Water in Vienna is free!!! We have excellent tap water & they already overcharge on everything else, it is not necessary to charge customers for something that is not even bottled mineral water! Very unkind in my opinion, if the quality is right & it is overpriced I am okay with tipping a good amount but not to pay for something that is completely...

Café Mozart in Vienna offers a quintessential Viennese experience, blending history, elegance, and exceptional service in a single visit. From the moment I walked in, the warm and professional demeanor of the staff made me feel valued and welcomed. Their attention to detail and readiness to accommodate every need created an atmosphere of ease and enjoyment, which perfectly complemented the grandeur of the setting.

The menu offers an excellent selection of classic Austrian dishes and desserts, ensuring an authentic culinary journey. I savored the Viennese schnitzel, which was cooked to perfection – golden, crisp, and tender – and paired it with a refreshing local wine. Of course, no visit to Café Mozart would be complete without indulging in their famous Mozart Torte. The rich, decadent flavors of the cake were complemented by a perfectly brewed cup of Viennese coffee, making it a memorable dining experience.

The ambiance is equally remarkable, with an interior that exudes timeless charm and sophistication. The elegant décor, comfortable seating, and light classical music in the background create an atmosphere that feels both luxurious and inviting. Sitting by the large windows, I enjoyed the view of the bustling city, which added a layer of vibrancy to the café’s serene setting.

This café is not just a place to eat; it’s an experience that immerses you in Vienna’s cultural and gastronomic heritage. Whether you’re looking for a leisurely breakfast, a mid-day treat, or an elegant dinner, Café Mozart delivers with grace and quality. It’s the perfect spot for anyone who appreciates fine dining, impeccable service, and a touch of history. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Vienna – it’s a place you’ll remember long after...

Our reason for visiting Cafe Mozart was for the experience and it's rich history. We ordered what's known as one of the best drinks on the menu - the pistachio hot chocolate, famous Sacher Torte and the apple strudel. The drinks were ok as was the Sacher Torte. The apple Strudel was excellent. Unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing due to the service we received. The waiter (who clearly spoke English) only spoke to us in German during the ordering process. Luckily my partner knows basic German however it was difficult and we were not sure our order had been understood. Further to this it was difficult to get anyone's attention when we wanted the bill, and once we did, we chose to pay by card. When we tried to pay, we asked if the machine is contactless and the waiter said - "you ask me to pay by card, you give me card. This is not giving me your card" - how extremely rude!! Naturally contactless is not accepted everywhere. However being spoken down to is not acceptable and we simply asked whether it was an option. This place relies way too much on their reputation, and they think they can mistreat customers because many are just single visit tourists (like ourselves). I would not recommend Cafe Mozart.

While the atmosphere and service at this establishment were satisfactory, with attentive and welcoming waitstaff contributing to a pleasant experience, the same cannot be said for the culinary offerings. Our choice of beverages, hot chocolate and green tea, presented a stark contrast in quality. Unfortunately, the hot chocolate fell short of expectations, leaving much to be desired in terms of taste. This disappointment extended to the accompanying cake, the name of which escapes my memory, as it failed to meet anticipated standards. The disparity between the positive ambiance and service and the subpar flavors underscored the inconsistency in the overall dining experience. It's regrettable when the potential for a delightful meal is not fully realized, highlighting the importance of harmonizing both service and taste to create a truly exceptional culinary journey. Here's to hoping for improvements that align with the welcoming atmosphere this establishment offers. ☕🍰🌆
