WARNING: does not accept credit cards! There isn't a clear signage posted that we could see stating they did not accept cards. Stopped by to grab some dinner on our way home. Ordered a few pizzas, carbonara, and lasagna. Pretty mediocre food. We would have been better off getting frozen pizza. The portion size for the pizza was decent and the crust was the only good thing about it. The carbonara was bland, I'm pretty salt intolerant and had to apply a large amount of salt, pepper, and Parmesan to give it flavor. The lasagna on arrival was non-appealing aesthetically. The flavoring also bland. Lastly, the customer service was what got to us. Mainly the hostess/waitress (middle age woman with black, unruly hair). My father-in-law ordered a beer that he was unsure of how to pronounce. She corrected him on the pronunciation of the beer which is fine but what was not okay was the condescending attitude in the way she did it. When we attempted to pay with a credit card she rudely told us they didn't accept cards, and to further emphasize it she made hand gestures mimicking a card reader in a condescending way to prove her point. Her mannerism was not friendly...
Read moreI was leaving the Augustinian Church with a friend and we were talking about getting pizza, when we saw this restaurant along the way. I wandered in looking for a menu or someone to interact with, and couldn't find anyone at first. I turned around and a waitress, without stopping, started to yell about how bathrooms are for customers only. Confused and a little taken aback I barely managed a "menu?" before she moved past me. To the side of the room a waiter appeared right after her, so I asked him for a menu. He shook his head and turned away from me. Perhaps they have a big problem with people coming looking for a bathroom, but given that they are in a pretty heavy touristy area I'd expect perhaps a little more politeness upfront. The place gets one star because they pretty much refused my business. We ended up going to a pizza place in the second district, which...
Read moreBE CAREFUL OF CHARGES The food was reasonably good but not exceptional. We noticed a 2 Euro cover charge which we assumed included bread and tap water. Neither arrived so we asked for some bread. Fifteen minutes later it still hadn't arrived. By then we'd almost finished our meal. Finally, 4 small slices of bread in a basket arrive. We eat two of them and then ask for the bill - on top of the 4 Euro cover charge there's a 3 Euro charge for the bread! The four small slices of bread, only two of which we ate! I queried it, but I was essentially told I should be grateful because other restaurants charge 4 Euros per person cover. Not in our experience. We went to Al Borgo on our first night - a much nicer restaurant with much better food. The cover charge was 2.50 EU pp which included bread, bread sticks, olives, olive oil, pesto, tap water etc! We felt this was...
