As a Catholic worship experience , it is a wonderful Mass with singing and music. And praise was given to God.
I do hope there's chances for those without monetary means to attend this Mass as the high fee would be contrary to a Mass ethos , I realise there's limited seating.
It was lovely to hear the Vienna Boys' choir but very sad not to see them apart from at the very end for one piece. I am sure they could sing the introit from front of church. I realise it's not a performance but for the high fee there was little proportionally of the Boys Choir. You'd be better going to a specific concert if it is they you wish to hear. The limited contribution of the Vienna Boys Choir to the Mass feels a little like one is being fleeced a little and the advert disingenuous. Maybe the resident church adult choir could go in the balcony and the Vienna Boys at the front.
For myself when booking I made an error and accidently clicked week before on website of booking agent ( Discover Culture - Opera Guide GMBH Austria) and despite being weeks ahead they wouldn't transfer to the week I was in the country. For a genuine error I feel this was significantly lacking in grace, deeply disappointing and reflected most badly upon the Chapel and the Church whom they act as agent on behalf of. It felt liked being fleeced and taken advantage of.
Overall a positive experience on the day and a lovely one-off , but I would suggest equally fine and beautiful Masses and singing are to be found in Vienna without the high fee. And see the Vienna Boys' choir at a specific concert somewhere...
Read moreWe went to Sunday mass to hear the Vienna Boys Choir here. It was beautiful, but be aware that the choir sings from a balcony up high, so nobody can actually see them no matter where you sit. If you get no-view seats, there are small TV screens where you can watch the service happening (shown in photos) - but it can get incredibly hot and stuffy and the seats are really crammed together. If you sit on the main floor, you’ll be able to see the service better but still you won’t be able to see the choir. It was special to what the choir in the beautiful acoustics of the church, but due to the uncomfortable seating and lack of view, we didn’t stay...
Read moreThe music was beautiful, and it would have been a treat to see the Vienna Boy's Choir perform. Too bad that from our seats - which we chose specifically because they were NOT marked as 'sichteingeschränkt', or limited view (Untere Empore links, far left corner) - you could see no part of the chapel floor or the performance. One of the seats was beneath a small buttress, so that when you stood up, you basically had your face against a wall (pretty uncomfortable, as this was a mass). 5 stars for the performers, 1 star for the...
