I rarely write reviews, but I can't pass this one up. We are very pleased with the 3-hour zipline package we took with Ziptrek Ecotours for visit Mont-Tremblant, Quebec. It’s located about 2 hours from Montreal and the same distance from Ottawa. We decided to celebrate my child’s birthday by going on five ziplines at Mont-Tremblant, Quebec. She had never tried such high and different ziplines before, and not only did she overcome her fear, but she also loved it!
We were lucky to have wonderful staff like Charline and Alexandre, as well as a fantastic group.
We are incredibly grateful to one of the participants in our group, a lovely woman who not only and took beautiful pictures for us when we were high up in the mountains but she also organized a birthday song for my child—not once, but twice, because I missed the first recording! They even sang again voluntarily so we could capture a video for memories. Thank you so much, wonderful Martine! I’m glad we met and ended up in the same group. You changed our perspectives on many things, and your enthusiasm during the ziplines brought so much positive energy.
Many thanks to the guides who were with us all the time, who did not tire (or at least did not show it) to serve us, help us, give us valuable advice and make our experience full of many amazing moments. A special thank also to Charline for her precise instructions and great care throughout our ziplining experience. We also thank you very much and deeply appreciate Alexandre’s incredible attention; he not only helped ensure our 3-hour adventure went smoothly alongside Charline with his encouraging advice and support, but also, thanks to him, my child and I have beautiful photos from this special day. Thank you for the calmness he conveyed and for giving us a few moments and waiting for us to see the wild deer while we were hiking.
My child is thrilled that she chose to celebrate her birthday with this zipline package and the hiking in between. It helped us step out of our comfort zones, conquer our fears, and push our limits which contributes to a very enjoyable feeling for us. This left us with an exceptionally positive experience, making us even more eager to hike and explore nature more often. We felt like flying birds on the zipline!
It was amazing, and I wholeheartedly recommend this experience to everyone at least once in their lifetime. Afterward, we strolled through Mont Tremblant village and treated ourselves, which was a wonderful way to wrap up the day.
There was a child in our group, around 10 years old, who was a bit too light to go solo, so he zipped down with one of the staff members while his family went independently. However, since there were two lines at once, a family member was able to zip down with him while he was with the staff member. So this is an option you can consider when purchasing tickets.
We arrived for our 2:45 PM slot and found parking easily, but since you take a free gondola uphill, by the time we returned at 5 PM, they had closed the gondola. We had to walk down to our parking lot. Also, some of the shops were already closed by that time, so keep this in mind if you plan to visit.
We highly recommend this place. The weather is still nice in September 2024, and you can take advantage of it. I dressed more warmly, thinking it would be quite cold up in the mountains, but I found that a long-sleeve shirt was enough.
There is a public toilet before you get on the gondola at the parking lot level, as well as in the village itself after you get off the gondola, near where you will head up for the ziplines, which impressed us as they were very well maintained. You must be there at least 15-20 minutes early before your ticket time.
Three hours really go by imperceptibly. We are very pleased not only with the wonderful service over the phone from Ziptrek Ecotours while we gathered all the information about what to bring, how to buy tickets, and when and where to arrive, but also with our visit. I wish such a wonderful experience to anyone who...
Read moreI took the 1.25pm tour on the 26th of June. It really was an amazing experience, our tour guides Maude, Adam and Emilie were very personable and enthusiastic guides. And if I could give them more than 5 stars, I would. The breadth of knowledge they had on nature and our impact on nature was impressive. Going into the tour I wasn't expecting that we would learn about nature and the role we human beings have to play but I'm glad we did. I'm especially glad part of the of price is used towards local and international charities focusing on environmental protection. So kudos to the company there.
My partner who has a phobia of heights and was extremely anxious before the tour, was made to feel extremely at ease with the experience. The guides were extremely empathetic to her situation. Despite having the 4th longest zipline in the world, with the encouragement of our guides and the friendly people we met on the tour she was able to conquer her fear of heights and do all five lines. It's something she will cherish for the rest of her life.
So why the 4 stars? I had to remove 1 star due to the person who checked us in (slightly older and grey hair) upon learning my partner was French living in London, he decided to make a lot of negative statements about the British. He spoke exclusively in French to her, and did not seem to want to acknowledge I was there. Some of the things he said:
The British are racist against the French. My partner explained her or her numerous French friends in London have never experienced racism. The fact she was at Zipline with a British partner is a testament to it, he did not want to accept her personal experience
I explained I'm British, he said "well they colonized your country, India". I'm not Indian, so he was making a big assumption on my identity and neither did he seem want to accept I'm British. Furthermore, I'm not sure what his point was on colonisation, so has every European country colonised some country or another in recent history
He told her to move from London, even though she explained we both live in London and she's happy there
"The Canadians aren't racist like the British" but then made a point that contradicts his pride in Canadians not being racist, "I'm glad we don't see women wearing hijabs in Canada"
Talked about how he is happy many Canadians don't speak an iota of English, implying some sort of moral superiority in French culture. My partner tried to explain she would think being both Canadian and Quebecois should be something to be proud of, and that it's a testament to Canada both cultures co-exist. He didn't except
Claimed how the Brits are not welcome in Canada. They try to make friends but really people dislike them in Canada
I really do want to emphasize to everyone reading this review that this one Gentleman in no way reflects upon the rest of the employees we met and who are a testament to the Company. However it would be remiss of me to not advise the Company the behaviour of ONE of their employees. At the time, we did not want to ruin the experience for our fellow Group members or ourselves, so we chose to ignore his views and not raise a complaint but we couldn't forget the comments made.
I wholeheartedly recommend the experience to anyone, Canada is a beautiful Country, as are its people. On this tour you get to see both. As amazing as the experience was, we cannot separate our unfortunate encounter with this gentleman and the memory of this experience. He is free to have his views and I respect the right to freedom of expression but would do well to show a modicum of respect and sensitivity to the Clients of the Company, as an employee of the Company.
Update (16/07): The company was extremely apologetic, and apologized both over phone and email. I am satisfied that this demonstrates good company values and a desire to make amends. Furthermore the incident was just a case of...
Read moreWe went on a beautiful and hot day. Maxime and Zackiel was our guides. Both were friendly and courteous. They even played a funny math game with us. They explained everything clearly and the ziplines amazing. Vistas were breathtaking! My 11yr old was terrified after realizing how high up we were. The first zip was ok for her, but the second looked terrifying because it was sso long and deep. There was a female operator at the zipline who tried to calm her down by saying it was the same slope as the first zip, so she was sure my daughter could do it. This really helped my daughter a lot! The 3rd zip was challenging because of the strong winds. The guides told us to cannonball down to make ourselves reach the end, but my daughter was too light. So she was left dangling near the end, and had to wait for the guide to go out and get her. It didn't take long, but she was terrified. On the 4th zip we asked if she could go with a guide and Maxime took her. It was still windy, so this was the better option. She felt safe with Maxime. The last zip was fine and she was able to make it herself. Also please note you need good hiking shoes. It is wet and muddy in the hike between zip towers. One hike was 20mins long and after the cold wind on the zipline, my asthma started acting up and i forgot my inhaler. Zackiel was nice and he walked behind us slowly to make sure we were safe. He didn't rush me and was very kind. I would recommend a light jacket with zippered pockets. You can carry your medicine if you need it. There are mosquitoes on the hike, so spray with repellent before you start off. They allow you to place items in a bin that is kept at the office during your hike. They have water stations at the zip towers too and paper cone cups for use. Overall we were very happy with the excursion and found our guides and thw operators to bw friendly and helpful. Highly recommend! I carried my phone in a waterproof phone pouch around my neck. I was able to take some videos on the ziplines, but it was so windy and i got spun around a lot. You can rent a gopro, which might be better. It is possible to lose your phone too, so don't use what...
