Upon arrival we were told we had been upgraded to a loft suite with 3 beds which was not available when we reserved. When I stated if we were upgraded we no longer needed two rooms the front desk clerk ignored me and advised the 2 rooms had been billed already and handed me the debit machine. Again I stated we would be able to do one room and she continued. I again said we could just do one room? She then ignored me again and handed me the keys to the two rooms. She then advised me that we had been charged an extra $100 for an extra child and there would be no housekeeping during our 3 day 2 night stay, if we needed anything we should come to the front desk. ||Front desk then advised us that our upgrade was from the main floor we requested because of our dog, to the 3rd floor. When I inquired about an elevator, I was directed to park in an unsecured gravel lot with boat trailers and use the 3 flights of stairs. When I told her we had a cooler and 5 large suitcases as we are traveling for 3 weeks she just repeated her parking directions. I again asked if we gave up the upgrade if there was something on the main floor she looked at her computer and again told me the upgrade was at no charge.||This is NOT a 4 star hotel and the pictures are very deceiving. The bathroom is very small and there was no hot water in the morning. ||We had to call front desk at 1130pm to ask the people 2 rooms over to shut down their yelling. Front desk had been very diligent in telling me to remind my kids that 10pm is strict quiet time but there were groups on the property being loud well after midnight. ||Rooms have NO AC which is not listed anywhere in their advertising. The lofts are hot with no airflow and leaving the windows open didn't help as the sun was shining in the windows at 6am. There were also no fans available. ||Had a peek at their communal kitchen. We opted to eat out as it was very limited. ||Although we did not come to watch tv, the tv was no more than a 27" screen which was difficult to see from the beds as it is shoved into a corner. ||Overall, this was not worth $525/night at all. We caution others to seek more services for the dollar. We most definitely will never be back however I believe they don't care as there are enough tourists going through the area to rip off. ||Very...
Read moreStayed here with 2 persons for 2 nights from July 1 - July 3. Spacious rooms and excellent location close to nature and facilities in Ucluelet. I can definitely see this as a great place to stay while exploring this beautiful part of the island.
Even with reduced housekeeping services for due to COVID measures, the room was not completely clean on arrival; smudge on the seats and carpet and the guardrail along the stairs and the handle of the refrigerator were sticky. Nowadays you expect this to be disinfected with extra care. Nevertheless, we took a towel and cleaned this ourselves but I hope this will be improved for future guests. The furniture in the room is a bit poor. Very simple and not very comfortable, although the beds were OK. But a bit more comfortable seating, a closet or drawer would be a great addition.
Please take into consideration that the building (at least building number 2) is very noisy. Every movement in other rooms on the same floor can be noticed and conversations of guests in adjacent rooms can be heard as well. Not sure if anything can be solved to reduce inconvenience as this is probably caused by the construction of the building. Unfortunately the guests in the room next to ours had a pleasant evening/night as they were awake and playing music until 4am, and having conversations on the balcony. Unfortunately we were not able to sleep because of this, which made our night and subsequent day not so pleasant.
I did not want to start a discussion or argument myself with these rather large group of guests. Despite the no-noise policy, no staff/security was present at the complex to somewhat supervise what is happening in the evening or at night in/at the complex. When checking out, the member on duty did not respond decisively to our report, although other guests also confirmed that they had been inconvenienced for the same reason. It seems that this person was lacking some experience/training in hospitality.
I honestly think this could be a great place to stay. It certainly has more potential but there a just some of these things that need a little more attention/work to get it at a level what you would expect for this price and...
Read moreOur experience wasn’t lovely unfortunately. We pulled up and I went to check in. To our dismay, I was informed that my family of six ( 4 small kids ) would have to pay an extra 15 per night / per person. We had planned to stay three nights, but on top of the already 1,140 for three nights they wanted another 240. I asked if I could cancel my reservation and they said I could, but I’d have to pay for my first night ( 440 after taxes ) keep in mind...this is a very run down old hotel. I politely declined as we didn’t have money to pay for two hotels. I decided to instead only stay two nights instead of three as I couldn’t afford to pay 1410+ for 3 nights. Once we arrived in our room, we were met with a dirty towel ( mud or dirt all over it ), cleaning supplies and there was squished crackers on the bed. We immediately called and asked if it was possible to move us to another room. They promptly did and once we finally got the key, we tried to open the door but it wouldn’t open, so we had to make a third trip back to the office. We got into our room and it smelled moldy and felt very dated. I will say, the bathroom was lovely, but the room is pretty outdated. We got all our kids to finally sleep and we realized the walls were paper thin. So thin we could hear conversations of the people next to us, their newborn crying ( as if he was in our room ) I’ve never been in a hotel with such thin walls. We are only 1 day into our 2 night stay, but we will NEVER stay here again. I’ve never written a hotel review before and we travel a ton.. but I thought I would warn people. We work hard for our money and I can’t believe I paid 876.00 for two nights in this dump. It shouldn’t even be 150 a night. This has been the worst experience for our family and I’ll pay the extra 20 bucks and go stay at Black Rock again.. as it’s...
