From the moment we arrived, the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. Our journey began with a seamless airport pickup in an executive sedan—a luxurious, stress-free introduction to our stay. Upon arriving at the hotel, Zohar from guest relations welcomed us with genuine warmth and ushered us to our room. Waiting for us was a stunning flower arrangement, a thoughtful and unexpected gesture that set the tone for the entire trip. The hospitality didn't stop there. Moments later, Zohar arrived with a tray of fresh fruits and chilled champagne—a delightful surprise that added to the serenity of our stay. The attention to detail and personal touches truly made us feel celebrated and cared for. Our room was impeccable, with our luggage perfectly arranged and a staff member taking the time to explain the hotel’s incredible amenities. From world-class restaurants to rejuvenating spa offerings, the Island Shangri-La effortlessly blends luxury with comfort. As a special touch, I decided to have a custom jacket made while in Hong Kong. Staff at the bell service desk recommended an exceptional tailor, and the process has been flawless. I’m thrilled about the fitting tomorrow and can’t wait to wear the jacket to celebrate future milestones. For us, Christmas holds a special place in our hearts, and seeing the holiday decor throughout the hotel brought an extra layer of warmth and joy. It was a beautiful reminder that family and love are universal, no matter where you are. This morning’s breakfast experience was yet another highlight—every dish was exquisite and served with the utmost care. If you stay here, do not miss it. Reflecting on this trip, I am profoundly grateful that we chose the Island Shangri-La to celebrate our anniversary. The hospitality, the ambiance, and the memories we’ve created here are priceless. It’s incredible how this place, and love itself, can feel both timeless and ever-new. I recently stayed at the Island Shangri-La in Hong Kong and regret to say that the experience fell far short of the standards one would expect from a luxury hotel brand. Below are the key issues that marred my stay: Unprofessional Front Desk Service & Billing Errors The most frustrating issue occurred during checkout. After carefully reviewing and signing the final bill at the front desk, I was shocked to receive a call post-departure claiming they had undercharged me and requesting an additional payment. This is utterly absurd. What was the point of waiting patiently at checkout for staff to "confirm" the bill if errors still occurred? It reflects gross incompetence and a lack of respect for guests' time. Such billing practices are inexcusable for a hotel of this caliber. Poor Room Hygiene & Housekeeping Oversight The cleanliness of the room was appalling. Upon arrival, I discovered a used wine cork left on the carpet from a previous guest—a glaring oversight that housekeeping somehow missed. For a luxury hotel, this is unacceptable. If such a visible item is overlooked, it raises serious concerns about the thoroughness of their cleaning protocols. How can guests trust that less obvious areas (e.g., linens, bathrooms) are properly sanitized? Indifferent Staff Attitude What compounded the frustration was the staff’s dismissive response to these issues. When I raised both the billing error and housekeeping failure, their reaction was shockingly apathetic. There was no apology, no effort to resolve the problems, and no follow-up—just a shrug of indifference. This complete lack of empathy or accountability made it clear that subpar service is normalized here.

My experience at Island Shangri-La Hong Kong exceeded all expectations, from the impeccable service to the beautiful ambiance and exceptional cleanliness. The moment we walked into the room, we couldn’t help but gasp at how beautifully it was designed. Every detail was thoughtfully crafted, creating a space that was not only elegant but also bursting with fun and delightful surprises. My daughter was beyond excited as she explored and played, discovering all the charming little touches around her. She was sooo excited—it was impossible not to share in her joy! It’s incredible how the hotel has created rooms that make you want to stay in and soak up every moment, rather than ever feeling the need to leave. The family floor truly is whimsical, adding an enchanting touch to every moment. The service throughout the hotel was impeccable, with every staff member going above and beyond to ensure we had an unforgettable stay. The Family Experience Team stood out for their warmth and care, but Ella, in particular, left a lasting impression. Her warm smile, outgoing personality, and laughter-filled presence were simply unforgettable. She’s always so eager to help and makes you feel so welcomed from the moment you meet her. It’s easy to see how all the kids are naturally drawn to her, and her ability to bond with children so effortlessly is remarkable. In just a short time, she became my daughter’s best friend, creating memories we will treasure for years to come. We can’t wait to return to the Island Shangri-La Hong Kong and experience all the magic it has to offer—You will see what I mean when you visit Shangri-La’s Family Suites floor.

Steam-punk party suite! We wanted to put on a memorable baby shower and were looking for out-of-the-box places to host it. Island Shangri-la recently did a big update with an entire floor of themed rooms. Just getting out of the elevator on that level, you’re immediately immersed into a different world. When we discovered their Airship Suite, we were amazed. It’s a two bedroom suite with a bunk bed for children that made me wish I was a kid again. You have to see the pictures to understand it, but not only were the children in the party excited by it, I even had young at heart adults climbing and sliding the airship bed! The hotel catered food was absolutely to die for. The suite includes a kitchen which allowed for freshly cooked food to be served hot, but the most exciting delights were the themed desserts, which included edible balloons and macarons served on a bed of flowers. We had a popcorn machine going and an ice cream cart. The service was immaculate! Their pool was lovely, big enough to actually swim laps in, with chic cabanas either side of it which allowed for great Instagram shots. There’s also a children’s water area beside the pool which I can see kids spending hours playing in. We’re so glad that we decided to have our party in this suite. All our guests were extremely impressed and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. If you’ve got young kids, or want to put on a memorable party, I highly recommend this hotel.

Very nice rooms, friendly staff, great service, excellent food at the restaurants. 2025 updates: family suites concierge floor. Island Shangri-La Hong Kong now offers a floor of luxurious family suites with 2 bedrooms and 3 bedrooms. Stepping off the elevator to the family-themed floor, the corridor is transformed into a train station with a model train whistling around the track on the ceiling! The floor has its own concierge suite offering breakfast, afternoon snack and nightcap grab-and-go style. CafeToo breakfast buffet is included. Next to the food station room is the activity room when children can do crafts and play toys or read books. Daily activities are offered and need to pre-register. There’s a pantry room next door with washer and dryer along with laundry detergent, baby wipes bottle warmer and a lot of baby items. The suites have different themes of wonderful creative design that exceeds your expectation! We stayed at the Safari suite and Fairy garden suite(with its own kitchen and full size refrigerator)as shown in the pictures below(only the fairy garden suite). The 2-yr-old boy and the 5-yr-old girl were enchanted by the suites! After returning to the States the kids still keep talking about the wonderful experience and can’t wait to go back again around Christmas and New Year 2025!

Disappointed with this stay. I booked 3 nights for my birthday in a grand harbor view as a self treat. Having stayed in Shang Kowloon in the past and loved it, this was a let down. I had high expectations with their Central hotel as reviews were good. We arrived late in the evening and was informed we were being “upgraded” to the next category room (high floor) because all grand harbor rooms were taken. Being so tired from our flight, I accepted the change. When we got to the room the big windows faced the huge CONRAD sign with a tiny harbor view at the side. Such a letdown! Service was also lackluster. We demanded to be transferred to a harbor view room and lo and behold! A room was available! Still, it wasn’t anything close to the harbor views of their Kowloon hotel. Needless to say I felt this is not a great value hotel and quite overpriced. Pros: the grand rooms were nicely renovated and housekeeping and room service personnel delivered exceptional service Cons: reception people not so warm and location is in a remote part of the city.
