Calle Real is the heart of Salento and a must-visit spot. Stretching from the main square to the stairs leading up to the Mirador viewpoint, this colorful street captures the charm and culture of Quindio’s coffee region.

Lined with colonial-style buildings painted in vibrant colors, it’s full of craft shops, restaurants, dessert spots, and souvenir stands. Mornings are great for peaceful photos, while evenings offer a lively, welcoming atmosphere.

Be sure to carry cash—many shops don’t accept credit cards. There are several ATMs by the main square, and the exchange rates are usually favorable.

Whether you’re shopping, tasting local food, or just taking in the scenery, Calle Real is a highlight of any...

Colourfully decorated houses along this main street in Salento with shops selling a wide range of Colombian, clothes, crafts and other goodies. Value and quality varies wildly so shop around, avoiding the imported rubbish and go for more tradicional ponchos, bandejas, mascaras etc. Great restaurant near the top on the right with garden and amazing views but I didnt...

📌Top 7 things to do in Salento, Colombia 🇨🇴 1. Hike in Valle de Cocora You will marvel at the tallest wax palm trees in the world 🌴 2. Try Jeep a local transportation. Here Jeep is called “Willys” When you go to coffee farm, Valle de Cocora and Filandia, you have to go by Willys ☺️ 3. Coffee farm tour There are lots of coffee farms, duration and tour courses are different. So make sure to check properly before booking. For me I booked through “Finca Buenos Aires Coffee Tour & Coffee Shop” 4. Plaza de Bolívar Many cafe, restaurant are around here and you can find Willys transport point to go to coffee farm and Valley de Cocora. 5. Mirador Alto de la Cruz If the weather is good, you can watch amazing sunsets point overlooking the Salento town. 6. Calle Real You will fell in love with these colourful colours of houses. 7. Play “Tejo” There are a few places where you can enjoy. But one of the famous ones is Cancha De Tejo Los Amigos. It’s fun game to play with a team 😉 ☑️Apart from the above lists, you can also visit “Filandia” if you have an extra day. It’s a small town 🥰 near Salento. Nice place to shop for artesenal goods and souvenirs. Also a nice place to take a stroll during the weekdays when it's quiet. The weekends are overly crowded and make for a rather unpleasant experience. Overall, a colorful little street with lots of charm.
