Museum of Natural History — Attraction in Copenhagen Municipality

A brilliant museum from an educational perspective. The museum's layout is perfect for understanding, and while it's not the Natural Sciences Museum, the presentation is excellent. My son, who is a biologist and works in science communication, found a presentation like this—simple but not simplistic—to be very useful. My 15-year-old daughter also found it a great way to learn about animal biology and how early scientists acquired and organized knowledge. As a teacher of teenagers, I give the museum's layout an A+. Unfortunately, a large group that had entered (adults at an event, aged between 30 and 50) started to speak extremely loud . We asked twice at the reception desk to please ask them to speak more quietly because it felt like a market, and on both occasions we were ignored. I've traveled a lot and never encountered anything like this. The security guards always call attention to the slightest noise, logically, it's a museum. Furthermore, when we went to a kind of workshop for the kids to draw, see different skeletons, and use a microscope, the ones talking very loudly were some young people from the museum dressed in green, like guides or interns, we don't know. In fact, there was a 7-year-old German boy in the room who spoke the way people in a museum usually do. And another group of Danish schoolchildren, who came with the teacher, also didn't make half as much noise (and would have been much more understandable in their case) as the adults and young assistants. This noise, and the staff's inaction in reducing it, is what led me to give the museum only a 3-star rating. If I could give a more accurate assessment, I'd give the staff a 1 and the museum a 5....

Great museum with fascinating exhibits – but a bit smaller than expected I really enjoyed my visit to the Danish Natural History Museum in Copenhagen. It's a great place to explore the wonders of the natural world, with engaging and well-curated exhibitions. You can see an impressive collection of fossils, dinosaur skeletons, rare minerals, animal specimens, and botanical displays. The life-sized models and detailed explanations make it both educational and enjoyable for children and adults alike. Some highlights include: A large dinosaur skeleton and a section on prehistoric life A walk through the evolution of animals and plants Beautiful mineral and crystal collections A rich display of animal species from Denmark and around the world The adjacent Botanical Garden, which is peaceful and beautiful, especially in spring and summer Staff were friendly and helpful, and most signs and information panels were available in both Danish and English. The reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I expected the exhibitions to be a bit larger in scale, and some of the display cases felt outdated. With more modern lighting and glass, the specimens could really shine and be appreciated in their full beauty without distracting reflections.

Il Museo Botanico di Copenaghen è un vero gioiello nascosto, perfetto per chi ama la natura e vuole immergersi in un’oasi di tranquillità nel cuore della città. La mia visita mi ha lasciato un senso di meraviglia per la cura e la ricchezza delle collezioni che ospita. Si ha quasi l'impressione di entrare in un mondo segreto, dove il tempo sembra rallentare per lasciare spazio all’osservazione e alla contemplazione.

Ciò che colpisce è la straordinaria varietà di piante, molte delle quali provenienti da habitat remoti e difficili da trovare altrove. Passeggiando per le serre, ti trovi a scoprire specie rare ed esotiche, con un senso di scoperta continuo, come se il giardino stesso volesse svelarti i suoi segreti poco a poco. Le serre, soprattutto quella delle palme, hanno un fascino particolare, con l'umidità che avvolge tutto e i raggi di luce che filtrano tra le foglie giganti, creando un'atmosfera quasi tropicale, surreale.

Forse non tutti sanno che questo museo custodisce una delle collezioni botaniche più antiche e importanti d'Europa. I campioni storici raccolti qui raccontano secoli di esplorazioni scientifiche, e la collezione di erbario, conservata con estrema cura, è tra le più grandi del mondo. Non è solo un luogo di bellezza, ma anche un centro di ricerca botanica di rilevanza internazionale. È affascinante pensare che molti dei botanici più illustri abbiano contribuito a questa collezione con campioni raccolti nei viaggi di esplorazione, dando così vita a un museo che oggi è un vero e proprio tesoro scientifico.

Una delle cose che ho apprezzato di più è la pace che si respira. A differenza di altri luoghi turistici, qui puoi prenderti il tuo tempo per esplorare, sederti all’ombra di un albero secolare e semplicemente goderti la bellezza della natura. Il tutto con lo sfondo della città che sembra quasi svanire, come se fossi entrato in un angolo di mondo dove l’unica cosa che conta è il verde attorno a te.

È un luogo che consiglio vivamente a chiunque visiti Copenaghen, soprattutto se cerchi una pausa dai ritmi frenetici e vuoi vivere un’esperienza autentica, intima, lontana dalla folla, ma piena di storia e...
