My experience was unfortunately overshadowed by the staff’s lack of respect for personal boundaries. As I was walking through the museum, a gallery attendant followed me closely through every hallway while watching TikTok on her phone—without headphones and at a rather loud volume. This was incredibly distracting and disrupted my ability to fully engage with the art. At some moments, I even felt like she might have been filming me, which made me very uncomfortable.

I was lucky to arrive early in the morning as the first and only visitor, hoping for a peaceful and reflective experience. I completely understand the need for staff to monitor visitors, but there is a significant difference between keeping an eye on someone from a respectful distance and shadowing their every step. If she had simply remained seated and observant from afar, it wouldn’t have been an issue.

Additionally, the facility itself could use some improvement in cleanliness, as some areas felt slightly neglected.

Overall, the art alone makes this gallery worth visiting, but I sincerely hope the management addresses these concerns to create a more comfortable and respectful atmosphere...

I never leave bad reviews and if you look at my profile you’ll see it, I always leave 5 stars, but I was treated so miserably here that I have to do this. Ok so first of all only the 2nd floor of the museum was open but that was absolutely fine, I enter the first room and I take a pic (there were no signs that pics weren’t allowed) and a lady starts yelling at me in Russian.. Second room and corridor even worse, there are no explanations about the paintings whatsoever so you have to scan a qr code in order to listen to the audio guide, I put my phone near the qr code and the alarm goes on… and I was yelled at in Georgian for just trying to scan one code, I left immediately after and I am still mad about it, worst museum I have been to, and not for the paintings, those are beautiful, but bc of the people who work there…...

The cashiers were very unpleasant. As soon as you speak English, they immediately suggest switching to Russian. Even when you show them an official, valid Georgian residence permit, they charge you double the price meant for Georgian residents. In our case, they took 50 lari, even though the correct price with a residence permit should have been 26 lari. It was a very disappointing experience — a petty and disrespectful attitude toward foreign guests who care about Georgian culture and art, who have invested time, effort, and money to obtain an official Georgian ID, have started learning the language, and possess all the proper documentation proving their residence in Georgia. After such dishonest and small-minded treatment, it’s hard to enjoy the art — you can’t help but feel deceived, and all you want is to leave.
