This was the first restaurant I visited in Georgia, and I deliberately waited two weeks before writing this to see if my initial impression would change. Unfortunately, it hasn’t. The khinkali here is something I would not recommend. The dough was rubbery and overly thick, the meat was tough and lacked flavor, and the broth inside was watery rather than rich and savory. Of course, taste is subjective and depends on personal preference however basic foundation is the same everywhere. My suggestion would be this: if the kitchen cannot execute every item on the menu with consistency and quality, then simplify the menu or invest in training. Send the chef to other local restaurants to truly experience well-made khinkali and refine the recipe. If the restaurant’s primary goal is simply to serve food like a conveyor belt for tourists-prioritizing revenue over purpose and the craft of cooking-then the current approach will suffice. But if the intention is to create something meaningful and memorable, then serious improvement is needed. Minimum order of khinkhali is too much and i...

I simply cannot understand why this restaurant has such a high rating. I popped in for lunch and opted for the barbecued lamb, I asked if it came with anything and was told no so I ordered a portion of home fries. Eventually the food came out (there was only one other diner) and I was served a small plate with four chunks of lamb with a scattering of raw red onion accompanied by a bowl of bought in cheap fries and a bowl of ketchup. The lamb was completely overcooked, very dry and tough and thoroughly under seasoned. I didn't finish it or the fries. I asked the waiter if they were supposed to be home fries and he replied that he thought I asked for french fries. When I complained about the lamb he simply shrugged and walked off, no apology, no offer for me to choose something else or to take some money off the bill. I was looking forward to some great Georgian food but this was a monumental let down. The other diner didn't look too impressed with her meal either. Having read the snide responses from the owner on other low scoring reviews I'm waiting to see if I get...

Sterile environment with 8 tables inside and one outside. No music or atmosphere just the sounds of the dishes clicking in the kitchen and traffic whizzing by outside. The waitress was young and completely inexperienced. I walked in and behind me was a party of two. She sat the couple and left me to pick my own seat. She brought the couple menus and left me sitting and went in the back and disappeared. I got up and got my own menu. I was just about to leave after waiting for 15 minutes when she came to my table after taking the order from the couple. I ordered a soup, water and glass of wine. Another 15 minutes had passed and nothing had been brought to my table. The couple have their food. She bussed tables and adjusted the seating as I sat waiting on my simple order. I should have left and not subjected myself to rotten service and mediocre soup that was barely warm. The wine and water arrived after the soup!! I don’t recommend. Avoid here and take your business where there is good service and your business is appreciated -where you are a solo...

Late last much. I was headed elsewhere when I spotted Tannini Restaurant. It looked inviting. I had a simple cucumber and tomato salad w walnuts. It was very good. Their mushroom khinkali was too salty for my taste. Flavor was otherwise fine. That's my only reason for 4 stars. The menu is diverse but not so large as to be disorienting for a tourist. Where the restaurant shines is service! An attentive server covering all tables. Btw. Fairly small seating area but tables are loosely spaced, another plus. My server actually checked in during the meal while I ate to ensure all was well. A first in Georgia. No, I didn't bother to comment about the saltiness. He bused tables as diners finished and thoroughly cleaned the tables. I saw food delivered to other tables, those diners seemed pleased, too. I would recommend despite my concerns about saltiness. I potentially just had a salty batch. Wine selection looked pretty good but I just had water.

I came across this restaurant when strolling through Tbilisi for the first time, and decided it would be the place to taste the highly anticipated Adjarian Khachapuri. Oh man, I couldn't have made a better choice, on every level. Be warned, this food is likely the reason Georgia excels at producing wrestlers - you're gonna stuff yourself. If you love bread, and you love cheese, it doesn't get any better than this. This first encounter with Georgian cuisine was guided by the hand of Tatia - honestly, the real MVP (together with the chef). She walked me through the menu like it was her family's recipe book, gave me good recommendations for wine, and we had a nice chat going during the low hours. My experience was so good that I came here again for lunch the next day. I tried khinkali and chashushuli (beef stew?), and it didn't disappoint - hearty, beefy food with lots of flavor. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant ♄
