The current exhibition on the Bronzes of San Geminiano, which will continue until 12.10.25 is excellent and well worth seeing, in spite of the stiff entrance fee of 14 Euro. The Etruscan Roman finds exhibited there are not beautiful as the highlights of the grand collections of Graeco Roman art, but they are absolutely unique and show a hidden aspect of those pre-Christian civilisations. The Christian votive offerings still made today are a direct offspring of this forgotten culture of ritual offerings. The finds are beautifully exhibited, lit very nicely and well explained. Highly recommended!

The café inside the James-Simon-Gallery in Berlin is a delightful spot to unwind after exploring the exhibits. With its modern design and large windows, the space feels bright and inviting, offering stunning views of the surrounding Museum Island. The menu features a great selection of fresh pastries, light bites, and quality coffee, making it perfect for a quick snack or a leisurely break. The relaxed atmosphere and friendly service make it a must-visit for both art lovers and those just looking to enjoy a peaceful moment in the heart of Berlin.

altogether a great experience, very interesting and you could spend the entire day there since the building is huge and again many interesting things to see BUT the staff was partially very rude. the first man approached me in a very insensitive tone and told me that i’d have to wrap my jumper around my hips. i just didn’t understand what difference it made if i don’t wear it on my shoulders but instead wrapped around my hip(?) so i asked him nicely what the logic behind all that was. he answered: “well first it looks ugly when you wear it on your shoulders like that” WHO TF do u think you are my man to tell me how to dress????? “second of all that’s just the rules if you don’t want to follow them go in, you’ll be sent away anyway.” and you know i don’t have a problem following rules AS LONG AS YOU TALK TO ME IN A RESPECTFUL MANNER but this man was just extremely rude. museum and gallery were...

Pointless and architecturally questionable, the James Simon Gallery is one of those ill-fated attempts to combine new and old in an aesthetically pleasing manner. Well, Chipperfield failed. While the exact same building would have looked just fine on a big green lawn, it appears abysmally cramped next to the Pergamon Museum and thoroughly destroys the architectural ensemble of the old Museumsinsel. Would the Museumsinsel have been better off without the Gallery? Yes, because all this oddly placed building has to offer is a glorified cloakroom. Mind you, the James Simon Gallery (JSG) is not a gallery. You can check your coat there, use the bathroom, buy some knick-knacks in the museum store, but that’s about it. I sincerely wish the money spent on the JSG had gone into an early renovation of the Pergamon Museum. Now the place is closed for 15 years. How...

The museum and exhibition were expectacular and amazing but the service at the cafe Shop at the James Simon Gallery specially by one member in particular was dreadful. She approached us on a patronising manner without any greetings, mentioning she spoke Spanish and she could understand us. She told us we had to have patience because the cafe was very busy, when we asked her for an empty glass to share a bottle of water she said that this was Not a Mcdonalds and wouldnt give us another glass and her general demeanor was despective. We did complain to the manager which was very helpful, nice and...
