Generally, the dessert is refreshing and a fun thing to eat in the summer.

But as someone who loves Korean shaved ice (Bingsu), this kind of shaved ice is somewhat lacking. The freshly shaved ice looks soft and fluffy, but then they press it into shape… And the liquid topping makes the shaved ice develop a gritty and icy texture...

We were sorely missing the Indian snow cone "Gola" when we happened to know that Hawaii also has something similar called Hawaiian shave ice. While not entirely the same thing, we loved the Hawaiian version as well. The snow cone has a centre of ice cream of our choice which is then generously coated with layers upon layers of tiny ice crystals followed with colorful stripes of different flavors. Shave Ice Berlin bat uns an einem heißen Samstag Mittag die perfekte Abkühlung. Die kleine Hütte mit der langen Schlange stach dabei sehr heraus an der Spree. Bei unserem kleinen Trip nach Berlin war dies einer der Spots, welchen wir unbedingt besuchen wollten, erwarteten aber eigentlich nicht besonders viel neben dem schönen Optischen. Nach kurzem anstehen und bewundern wie sich die Farben auf dem Eis langsam zu einem Regenbogen vermischten, durften wir sehr freundliches und sympathisches Personal wahrnehmen. Zu unserer Überraschung war das Eis zusätzlich noch deutlich leckerer als wir es uns vorgestellt hatten und erinnerte nach kurzer Aussetzung der Sonne an Slush in jedoch leckerer und machte Spaß zu essen, wobei wirklich jede Phase des Regenbogens einen anderen leckeren Geschmack bot. Besonders gut gefiel uns der rote Erdbeergeschmack, da man es bei ähnlichen Ständen oft mit sehr künstlich oder chemisch schmeckenden Zutaten zu tun hat, der hier aber authentisch und äußerst lecker schmeckte. Den Löffel fanden wir auch bemerkenswert angenehm, da wir auch hier einen wie so oft angebotenen Holzlöffel erwarteten, bei dem man die Holzstruktur auf der Zunge fühlt. Dieser war jedoch vollkommen glatt und somit angenehm und schränkte die Erfahrung keinerlei ein. Unserer Meinung nach eine optimale Umsetzung eines tollen Produkts ohne jegliche Verwendung von Einwegplastik. Klare Empfehlung...
