....since Google wants to CENSOR my honest, real-world assessment of this train location, I'll try to convert this into somethint a 5 year old would say, since again Google seems to be SENSITIVE
Where to Begin?
1). TERRIBLE & CONFUSING signage. There's numerous entrances and random hallways. The overhead signage is lacking and extremely confusing (ex. "WC" signs pointing at one another with no bathroom). And the floor markers make little sense.
2). TERRIBLE information/help. I SINCERELY HOPE YOU DO NOT NEED TO TALK TO THESE PEOPLE. It'll be 6:30 AM and there's 3 women in the booth chatting about their social lives, yet somehow 2 are "closed" (???). And all they literally do is read a screen, and inject a TON of vitriol into it.
3). The bathroom hustle is a JOKE. Fairly certain it's a legal requirement to have a bathroom in a commercial business (of which a train station/DB is). Although there's signs for a bathroom spread all over the place, the only actual bathroom inside is always closed with a sign saying the bathroom can be found at the entrance. Walking over there, you soon discover you have to pay 1 Euro JUST to pee. You effectively stand outdoors in frigid temperatures peeing into what amounts to a horse trough or something you'd see in a cheap bar. All while flashing your junk to the passerby people. The sink is broken and just spits water constantly, no soap, just overall a joke. And my personal favorite, the "bathroom bouncer" who somehow questions how you got inside his gate and gets into your face area as if he wants to make out a little bit. Upon saying "bro what are you saying?", he continued trying to push me out. Glad I deposited on the floor & clogged the sink with paper towels. An eye for an eye
4). No idea what "DM" as a store is, but despite looking like a grocery store, it is not. All I found was makeup and random cracker brands.
5). The DB ticket counter help inside is maybe the saving grace for this place. There's a STRONG chance your train will be delayed, in which case you will need to visit here to get some assistance. I hope you get the nice & helpful lady that worked with us.
6). Be prepared for homeless populations. They sleep in the phone booths, rentable locker areas, doorways of unopen stores, and virtually anywhere else they can.
All in all, I'd recommend avoiding this station if you can. Otherwise I IMPLORE you to just be as rude and condescending to everyone here, or just be prepared to receive it from a bevy...
Read moreOne of the biggest Central Stations in middle of Ruhrgebiet as well an important main nodepoint for Public Transit. And trust me. When i say big, it means big! To walk on foot from one end to the other with normal speed takes about 15, in rush hours easily 20 Minutes.. An other bad thing is to find the right track for trains can be really hard. Because there are so many differnt Tracks, just unbelievable.. And if you need to change the track really quickly for an connection to another train, forget it.. Even more because very often the elevators and escalators are out of Service. The same is valid to find the right track for the Metro/Underground, and even more to reach them.. Especially for Handicaps it is more an Disaster Station, as an Train Station.. The good thing on this Central Station is the fact that there are a lot of different shops and Restaurants inside the station available. From grocery stores, over drugstores, to little Electronic Shops you can find almost everything here. Of course there are also some restrooms availabe inside the Central Station. The allover design of this Central Station is good, but as longest not perfect, but for sure much better as for example in Essen. 3...
Read moreDeeply disappointed in their staff behavior and what they provide as “customer service” and “information”. Inaccurate information, messy schedules and extremely rude staff. I’ll try to avoid passing by in the future inless absolutely necessary!
We had tickets to Amsterdam and because of the bad weather, they had some issues with the system. Instead of listening and trying to provide information and a feasible route, they kept giving us inaccurate information and when we called them out on their mistakes which was repeated 3 times, wasted our whole day, caused us to miss a day in vacation, almost got lost in stations without any information or help, we were told to “shut up” because they had “alternative routes” which we tried three times. They got aggressive when we complained and said enough is enough. We ended up having to stay the night at a weird hotel at the station and travel the next day. Imagine we had to figure out what was their repeated mistake and tell them how to get...
