While the vegan cheese cake was nice enough, the focaccia looked like it was burned to within an inch of its life but was served frigidly cold. The prices are kinda on the high side for what you get. The absolute clincher to avoid this place which may be the mecca for arty types to hang out and look clever if they don't care about ordering but the service was terrible. We waited for ages. There were at least 3 waitresses working. We were told by one that she would be there soon... And she never returned. This would be understandable if they had more than a dozen tables, but we saw several groups come in, wait, and then leave without getting served. I had to order at the counter (supposed to be for takeaway customers) and they seemed surprised when I said we had been waiting ages... We were right in front of the counter...
Even after ordering there seemed no rush to make drinks (the coffee machine was not so busy that there was a queue) and despite a further wait, there was no justification for it e.g. how long should it take to throw a cold outside of bread in a plate? There's better, cheaper, and much more competent places nearby so I couldn't...
Read moreI gave this bakery 5 stars month ago, quality of the food and bread deserve it very much. But the quality of service this summer is in free fall. I was there two weeks ago for a breakfast. Sat down, ordered and than for 35 minutes nothing happened. I ordered avocadobrot and coffee. Something that usually was delivered within 15 min. To be worse, all tables around me was getting coffee and their orders although they came after me. I asked young new waitress is everything ok with my order and she said yes it is coming with not much enthusiasm. After another 15 min nothing happened and when table next to me got their second coffee I decided to leave. Waitress was not bothered at all, not even saying I am sorry, she just said OK??? I asked to talk to manager, lady was nice, saying she is sorry, there is a lot of new staff etc.. She offered free breakfast but I decided to spent my money somewhere else. I understand chaos and disorganization but do not understand rudeness and lack of customer service. I wrote them message via FB but nobody...
Read moreWe visited Mehlwassersalz for breakfast and had a somewhat mixed experience. The pancakes were delicious, topped with seeds and whipped cream, and the coffee was excellent, rich and aromatic. They served bread with butter before the main dishes arrived, which was a nice touch and very enjoyable.
However, the rest of the meal was not particularly special or tasty, especially considering the price we paid. The mushroom toast, while visually appealing, didn't quite meet our expectations in terms of flavor. Same applies to spinach omelette as well. Additionally, the service left much to be desired. If you have to stand up to take the cutlery, you get a bad impression of the service.
On a positive note, the atmosphere of the café is pleasant, with a spacious and cozy interior. Despite the shortcomings, it has potential and might be worth a visit for the pancakes and...
