This house is beautiful! If you are considering booking this reservation, I would recommend you go ahead and do so. The location is great. One of the big things of Santorini is watching the sunsets. The house has a terrace on top of it, with a sitting area and a flat cushioned area to lay down. You can relax, watch the sunset with your dinner. We had the best view! It was like having front row seats at a show. The house is also in close proximity to some must-see places: Ammoudi Bay, the church, blue domes, restaurants, mini market, post office, bus stop. The host: Maria is absolutely lovely and hospitable. Upon arrival, we had a bottle of wine, beverages, fruits, breakfast supplies. She came over to visit with us and gave recommendations on where to go , what we must see and how to get there. They were all very unique places. She responded to our needs whenever they came up. Also the staff were friendly and nice. Melina, the Housekeeping lady comes to clean everyday. She did a great job. Everyday after our outings, we returned to a clean house. Giannis carried our luggage from the taxi, down the steps and to the house. He showed us around the house and gave us information on how to enjoy the resources provided. He helped us with opening the parasol. This house is comfortable. Cave design bathroom with supplies. The living area has a dining. The cushion was so comfortable! There is an additional area to lay on. It can double as a bed. The master bed has lace curtains which was beautiful and gave some privacy. (Traditional greek houses do not have doors.) The kitchen had a stove, microwave, dishes, drink ware, cookware. It had two cute stools to seat on and a basket of fruits to munch on, while preparing your food. The red bathtub. Beautifully shaped and deep enough to accommodate tall individuals. The bath was relaxing. Make sure to place the bathroom carpet next to the tub. Instructions are available for filling the tub. In high season, when there’s a lot of people in Oia, I found that taking a shower early in the morning or late at night gave me full water pressure from the shower head. There is a beautiful terrace at a different location close to the house. The hot tub is over there, with beautiful flowers, a place to seat, refrigerator. There is a patio with a beautiful view of the sun, sea and sky. The spiral stairs were cute and the bedroom upstairs was comfortable. In the room, there’s a little basket with a rope. You can use it to send things down stairs without having to go down the stairs. To use it, place your items in the basket, gradually lower the basket over the railing while holding onto the rope attached to it. Someone then receives the basket downstairs. Needless to say my children had fun sending little things like a belt, a pair of shoes, up or down the stairs. There is a wine cellar that doubles as a massage room or another room to relax and play games. Overall this house was just what we needed in Oia without breaking the bank. Note that the door of this house and opposite it are famous spots for photographs. You will find people taking pictures throughout the day. It didn’t bother me. I helped take pictures of a family with their two toddlers. Mom was trying her best to take a picture of her family at our door so I had to help them. After all, we’re all in Oia and we have to take pictures. I totally enjoyed my stay at...
Read moreThe Santorini Sunset Apartment and Terrace provided a dream break in our family's 2022 Greek Odyssey. As a retired, well traveled international environmental attorney on an extended family vacation to Athens, Corfu, Santorini and Costa Navarino, Messinia on the Peloponnesus, celebrating several family occasions with our large, 155 strong, Greek-American "parea," my wife, myself, daughter and granddaughter, age 6, decided to slip away from the family and friends for a few days of peaceful seclusion in Oia. Maria and her doting crew of Shipan and Islam were the perfect antidote for our escape from our family and friends in Greece for my grandson's baptism, niece/goddaughter's wedding, and 75th wedding anniversary of my pathero and pathera. Arrangng for transfers from the airport, Maria's young men met our minibus taxi at the appointed location. Shipan carefully arranged our large luggage pieces loaded with vacation clothes for 17 days, wedding dresses, gowns and baptismal celebration outfits on a dolly, with Islam doing the heavy lifting of 6 large suitcases and Shipan steering 2 other 4 wheel pieces up and down the cobblestone steps to our retreat. The subterranean cave apartments were just as lovely as described, and as we anticipated. Two separately contained units spacious enough to accommodate all our luggage, with very comfortable and quaint furniture lending itself well to the historical nature of the former Oia mayor's residence. A bottle of local Assyrtiko wine was properly chilled, fresh fruit on both tables, and the refrigerators in both units adequately stocked with assorted juices, yogurts, milk, cold water, ham, cheese, bread, and on top, assorted crackers, candies and other delightful accompaniments for breakfast and snacking. Maria also sent Shipan and Islam around each evening with surprises. A bowl of fresh local cherries one night, individual ice cream cakes another night, all to add to the pleasant enjoyment of Santorini's beautiful evening sunset views from our rooftop terrace. Just a few steps from our apartment we slipped into the Sunset Bar for luscious frozen cocktails replete with fresh fruit. This was where my wife and I squeezed in ten years ago for the best view of the sunset on the island, only now we were staying right next door! The charming bougainvillea blooming in our lower level courtyard, as well as on the rooftop terrace continually photographed and admired by passers-by, and the massive rooftop terrace where we enjoyed a large hot tub, simply made our time pass so pleasantly. We enjoyed the sunsets many below us were crowding the pathway to view. Make no mistake. This is the perfect venue to enjoy the beauty of this magical island and spend time in contemplation, and Maria is the perfect host to fulfill your Santorini dream. We can't wait to return. When you have found paradise, why spend time...
Read moreWe have been booking vacation homes throughout the world for many years, and have visited Santorini many times. On this particular occasion we were looking for a place in Oia, overlooking the caldera and it’s breathtaking views, and with a pool or jacuzzi. Upon searching online for only the highest-rated cave houses, we discovered Santorini Paradise. What a fabulous week we had!!
We arrived late at night from Athens, picked up our rental car from the airport, and drove to Oia. We were greeted at a central location by Giannis, Mr. Hercules himself, a 6’6” behemoth. The central parking lot was jammed packed with cars, ATV’s and motorcycles. No problem for Giannis, who deftly and single-handedly rocked several vehicles out of the way to create a spot for us! 💪He then lugged two very heavy suitcases (50 pounds each) on his shoulders up the hill, and down several flights of uneven historical steps to our cave. Giannis then gave us a very detailed orientation of the whole place, including the workings of the jacuzzi.
We noticed that we were missing a sharp knife and some paper towels. These were brought to us by Melina, the housekeeper, within 15 minutes of mentioning it to Maria. Melina did a fabulous job daily of cleaning the bathroom, leaving fresh towels, cleaning the kitchen, and making our bed. She even dropped off biscuits to complement the wine, fruit basket, coffee, jams, bread, crackers, cereals and snacks that greeted us upon arrival.
Maria, the owner, was the consummate host. My wife and I were visiting Santorini during our 36th wedding anniversary, and I wanted to surprise my wife with a romantic dinner. Maria recommended several restaurants, and then graciously made the reservation on our behalf. The selected spot was everything we had hoped for, and the table she reserved for us had stunning views of the azure waters from high up on the hill. Maria made many other recommendations for places to visit during our stay, even suggesting places to visit on our return to Athens. Most unforgettable, was Maria’s invitation to personally join her and her friends for a dinner of Greek entertainment and dancing.
“Santorini Paradise” is just that, a “jewel”. A drink in hand while basking in the outdoor jacuzzi—soaking in the visual tapestry of the glorious sunrise, sunset and moonrise over the caldera—it is just indescribable. The convenience to beautiful Oia is unparalleled. We won’t soon forget this breathtaking location, facilities and amazing, ultra-friendly staff.
Maria, we will definitely be back. Until then,...
