I was so so so so so excited to go here after reading many positive reviews. But. We ultimately had a so-so experience. €50 for 2 people to share an appetizer and main (plus 1 glass of white wine). Ultimately all of Ioa is super expensive, so in terms of the location only, it’s a reasonable price. We ordered the tuna appetizer, though this wasn’t available. The waiter enthusiastically recommended the cuttlefish, which was on the chewy side of overdone and the difficult to eat side of salty. Weird to be highly recommended. After eating, we kind of felt like he recommended it only to be rid of extra at the end of the night. After finishing the cuttlefish, we received the water we requested at the beginning of the night. We needed it, because my mouth was so dry after the salty cuttlefish. We ordered the lamb for our main. The lamb itself was tender and flavorful but everything on the plate was overshadowed by heaps and heaps of fried finokio. The lamb dish was ultimately. Very salty. Not sure if we ordered the two saltiest dishes on the menu or if everything was over salted to this degree. It’s not like we never eat salt or have this problem often. It was late, we didn’t want to complain that the taste of the dishes were just not to our liking, but hours later and I am extremely bloated from the food. Like, visibly bloated through my clothing. I assume some sort of mistake was made with our food, but this was a bad dining experience. Confused because ALL of the ratings suggested this Oenosart was not to be missed. I wish we’d missed this one, because then I wouldn’t feel so poorly. 2 stars because the lamb was tender, and the atmosphere pleasant, but an overall negative experience that continues to impact my evening...
Read moreThis is the highlight of our Santorini visit. Such a gem. If you want the best seats upstairs, next to the beautiful plants and flowers, make reservations. We were seated right at the corner outside, so romantic. All the staff was so nice, helpful, knowledgeable, and attentive. They answered all my questions and gave us great recommendation for pairing wine. We had Gylomeny Manoura chese, Luza, and smoke trout for appetizers. And OMG they were all sooo delicious, especially the cheese when paired with the apricot jam and and the red wine. The waitress was so nice that she gave my husband some extra prune chutney since he didn't drink wine. My husband had the fish of the day which was very delicate and delightful. Very mild taste, tender, and very fresh. I had the goat and it was amazing. It was cooked for 5 hours and it melted right in my mouth. Very special dish. But that's not done there. We were so full but I convinced my husband to get a dessert since everything was so yummy, the dessert would be too. And we ordered the Baklava. It was huge. My husband said lets eat half and take half home. Then we tried it. O... M...G... It was not what we expected. It was not traditional Baklava. It was stuffed with cold white chocolate cream and crushed pistachios. The outside was so crunchy and flaky phylo layers, balanced out by sweet, creamy, cold cream inside. What a heavenly combination. Half Baklava left, my husband begged me to let him finish it. LOL. Well I did since Baklava is one of his favorite desserts. Do yourself a favor when visiting Oia, make a reservation. And dont forget to have the Baklava. Thank me later. P. S. And of course it was inevitable. We came back the last day to have.... Yes. The...
Read moreAmazing hidden secret off the tourist path. Highly recommend as it was an incredible food experience! The staff was super knowledgeable for the wines and were very friendly!
A suggestion is to ask them to pair a wine glass for each meals IE meat and cheese board, starter, salad and main course and desert which is what we did!!
We had a lovely simple but wonderful tomato soup to start.
Our waiter ran over each wine we had with each meal, suggested what to have for our cheese (I knew what I wanted for my meat) and he even gave us another suggestion for another meat as well! The board was incredible as was the wine.
We had a heated vegetable salad and initially I was disappointed as it had peas in it but boy I was blown away by the flavors! The chef smokes the vegetables and it could be tasted in the broccoli so powerfully. Everything melded together so well including the wine the waiter suggested for this course.
We had goat for the first time which was spectacular with emulsified mashed potatoes which was incredible again. The red wine pairing with it was sublime with cherries and minerals that you could taste by just inhaling. Desert was a lovely vegan mousse along with a strong finisher for a wine again.
Throughout all this we had four people come and check up, converse with us and ask us how our meals were. One I believe was the chef or owner and the other three were waitstaff which were super friendly and sociable. I really enjoyed the experience at their restaurant.
The bill came up to be 139.50 but it was well worth it as everything was incredible.
Well done everyone and five stars...
