Budapest Zoo is a wonderful place to spend a day, offering a great mix of animals, beautiful gardens, and historic architecture. The zoo is one of the oldest in the world, and you can feel its charm as you explore the different exhibits. It’s well-organized, with a wide variety of animals, from big cats and elephants to reptiles and birds.

One of the highlights is the spacious enclosures that give the animals plenty of room to roam, making the experience feel more natural. The zoo also has many interactive areas, perfect for families with children, including petting areas and fun educational displays.

The historic buildings inside the zoo, like the Elephant House, add a unique atmosphere to the experience. It’s not just about the animals—there’s also a sense of stepping back in time.

Overall, Budapest Zoo is a fantastic place to visit for both kids and adults, combining wildlife, history, and beautiful surroundings into one...

We visited on the 2nd of May, which was a bridge holiday so we expected it to be busy, but it was still very doable, also as it's a very big zoo. Lots of families were visiting but it only felt crowded in the buildings like the shark exhibit.

There are many different animals and exhibits but at our visit there were also enough exhibits empty or under construction. In my opinion it's good that they are actively improving the zoo but it can mean that there a few animals you'll miss during the visit. There's also a large biodome under construction but in our case you could not enter yet.

Ticket prices are reasonable. Some animal specific information is only available in the...

A good zoo with plenty of animals, the usual species you see everywhere - tigers, lions, sea lions, penguins and others. We were suprised to see a nursing shark. The sea lion training program was fun to watch, as was the giant otter feeding. The shark world program is a Hungarian-only lecture, so if you are a tourist, you can safely skip it. The zoo was rather empty on a Thursday. One star down for the run-down atmosphere of some houses (America especially) and the overall unkempt look of the place. The animals looked...
