absolutely ridiculous and outrageous, got fined for holding an empty cup, of the coffee that i bought in between stations btw (M2- M4)
question - WHY WOULD YOU NOT put a clear sign that the drinks are not allowed in metro if you're not PURPOSELY trying to gain something from this. who will ever look at the A3 size paper, somewhere in the corner of the huge metro station, for the tiniest mark of forbidden items 🚱
Lets put the sign aside, does Hungarian economy stand on scaming tourists? the ticket officer was so clearly more than happy to fine us. You could tell, he very much enjoyed it, and forced us to pay right then and there. had to spent the whole portion of the money ive had for the day, amazing.
Intentions behind this "rule" and attitude towards tourists is very clear unfortunately.
As they heard us speaking foreign language, we were stopped by ticket officers claiming we did something wrong, THREE times, in just one day.
i asked all 3 ticket officers what exactly was it that i was doing wrong, i bought the ticket, validated them before my travel and took the train. they could not give me any explanation, and let me off hook after wasting my time with endless back and forths. there was ALWAYS an attempt to fine us for absolutely no reason.
Such a shame, what a pretty city, and how...
Read moreBEWARE! This Metro Station has the worst ticketing employees. The “Supervisor” with the Employee ID #5254 that works at this station verifying tickets is completely unprofessional and disrespectful. This man has no business working in customer service attending people/tourists in this station and needs to be taken back to basic training on how to properly work with the public.
This man in the rudest tone called my sister and I (two professional adult women) kindergarteners for not reading a sign that was very small and placed behind us that said you are not allowed to drink coffee or water on the metro. I was unaware of this rule (it was our first day in Budapest) and explained this to him, he then proceeded to fine us 12,000 HUF which I don’t have an issue paying if I broke a rule but his tone and attitude was not warrant in this situation and left a bad first impression of Hungary’s public employees and how they treat tourists.
I hope management takes action and retrains this man (employee ID #5254) again because clearly he...
Read moreAt Derek Forenk a lady sold me a capuccino and said it was ok to drink in the metro. When catching the metro, staff people saw me and said nothing. At this station (statuon of arrival) I was told I have to pay a fee 12000 forints (about 32 euros) for drinking in the metro... as of the lady "different country, different rules" when I asked her "what if you were abroad and someone gave u a wrong information?". So... This maybe the only place in the world where people sells you stuff that you cannot consume, and they see you are about to make an infraction but they say nothing because that is just a business. Since there was a lady that was having this only job of receiving the fees and giving receipts for that... I can only assume that this is eventually the best and more profitable legal but imoral business targeting tourists. In less than 24hrs it is the second time Hungarians give me informations that are not correct and the second time I lose money with it. I will remember that when writing my review about the...
